I think you'll have to look elsewhere.

I'm rather regretting having met the dining assessment. Now they offer
*comment cards* on the tables (and online). Darnit!

A couple days ago a friend of my wife took us to lunch at a local golf
club. She and a couple other of my wife's friends have dining
memberships. The clubhouse restaurant is quite nice and has a great
view. It sits on top of the escarpment and you can see Niagara Falls,
about 15 miles away.

I am seriously thinking about taking out a membership. It is only $27
per year for the membership and there is no minimum, monthly or annual.
The menu is not particularly exciting and the prices are a couple bucks
more than the local restaurants. Never the less, it is tempting to pay
the extra and to be able to enjoy that wonderful view.

I'd consider that. A really nice dinner out is more than just food
prices. The right location, good service, a nice view all count in the
experience.

I agree. I really think Dataw should offer a dining membership. I'm
told they used to but I guess they weren't making enough money that way.

Damn, all these years I have thought the only part of the cow fit to
eat was the Short Loin/Sirloin/Tenderloin and the rest was ground up
for McDoubles!

In the UK, that is what is called "oyster blade" I think. It is a tender
cut but has a prominent gristle layer up the middle.

George W. Bush, as many Texas politicos could easily tell you, had quite

having joined the Guard in the first place only to evade serving in
Vietnam. Bill Clinton dodged military service, too, by running off and
hiding in England, but Bush hid in plain sight, in an Air National Guard
uniform. It's great to have friends in high places to help out in time
of need, isn't it?

Bush and Clinton are alike in one other aspect as well. Both used the
White House as a Whore House. Bill did sexual things with cigars with a
young intern, while George had his muscular, boy-man homosexual lover,
Jeff Gannon, stay over many a night in the White House. He and young
Jeff Gannon weren't discussing foreign policy and affairs of state all
those times in the wee hours of the morning in the presidential
bedrooms, I assure you.

Thomas Jefferson, in fact, was fiercely anti-cleric. In a letter to
Horatio Spafford in 1814, Jefferson said, "In every country and every
age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance
with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his

In a letter to Mrs. Harrison Smith, he wrote, "It is in our lives, and

world must judge me. But this does not satisfy the priesthood. They must
have a positive, a declared assent to all their interested absurdities.
My opinion is that there would never have been an infidel, if there had
never been a priest" (August 6, 1816).

Okay, correction: Residents aren't allowed to have dining only memberships.

Do you really think they care about Yelp reviews? BTW, that Yelp link
is incorrect. The Club is on Dataw Club Road, nowhere near the marina.
That link should say Sweetgrass Restaurant, which is next to the
marina but is not owned or operated by Dataw. That's the restaurant
Chef Penn bought when he quit working at the Club.

They usually do. That's what I find amusing. That and the frequent
typos.

For the record, I never once even considered sleeping with you. And
you know that. You're the one who somehow got the idea that I was
going to move in with you - and you posted that to RFC just out of the
total blue.

After having met you twice at casual austin.food gatherings 2 or 3
years ago and not giving you any indication that there was any sort of
romantic interest in the least, you somehow twisted that into MY
MOVING IN WITH YOU?

That was just way too Psycho for me. I sat there at stared at the
screen for at least 15 minutes wondering, WTF? That was just way too
spooky. I've met weird, semi-psycho women before but you win, hands
down. Mapi of austin.general still holds the male title, but at least
he announced his psychosis right there lying on the floor of the bar
at B.D. Reilly's rather than romantically obsessing over me for 2
years.

Needless to say, you need to come to terms with what happened and why
your mind works that way and stop making up excuses for your fixation
and disappointment before we become the next Yoli and Michael. I'd
prefer you use a sniper rifle on me from a few hundred yards away.
There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo.

And Jeremy, I was just tired of your decade of bullshit and visions of
grandeur about all these things you're "working on" or have not done
in the past. Even posting a call for meetings with imaginary people
about imaginary projects of yours at "the normal time and place", as
if you are somebody important with a life. I'm pretty sure you're
manic depressive mixed with habitual liar.

Sorry I don't fit either of your Ideal Psycho Pal Profiles.

The Savings and Loan industry had been experiencing major problems
through the late 60s and 70s due to rising inflation and rising interest
rates. Because of this there was a move in the 1970s to replace the
role of S&L institutions with banks.

In the early 1980s, under Reagan, regulatory changes took place that
gave the S&L industry new powers and for the first time in history
measures were taken to increase the profitability of S&Ls at the expense
of promoting home ownership.

A history of the S&L situation can be found he

http://www.fdic.gov/bank/historical/s&l/

What is important to note about the S&L scandal is that it was the
largest theft in the history of the world and US tax payers are who was
robbed.

The problems occurred in the Savings and Loan industry as they relate to
theft because the industry was deregulated under the Reagan/Bush
administration and restrictions were eased on the industry so much that
abuse and misuse of funds became easy, rampant, and went unchecked.

Additional facts on the Savings and Loan Scandal can be found he

http://www.inthe80s.com/sandl.shtml

There are several ways in which the Bush family plays into the Savings
and Loan scandal, which involves not only many members of the Bush
family but also many other politicians that are still in office and
still part of the Bush Jr. administration today. Jeb Bush, George Bush
Sr., and his son Neil Bush have all been implicated in the Savings and
Loan Scandal, which cost American tax payers over $1.4 TRILLION dollars
(note that this is about one quarter of our national debt).
