Someone in this house likes the little cans of pears to eat with cottage
cheese. I normally buy them at Albertsons but two different stores were out. Totally out. They had other sizes of canned pears and the small cans of all other fruits. I remembered that I had bought some at Big Lots. I went there today and they did have them but in heavy syrup. The eater prefers in juice or light syrup. Other stores such as Walmart do not carry the little cans. Yes, I know I could buy other sized cans or the little plastic cups. And I have. But this person wants the little cans. Have you seen these in your area? |

This "person" is old enough to shop for herself. She has a car. If she wants little cans of pears let her drive from store to store to find the specific size of canned pears she wants. There's no way she would actually open a larger can of pears and store them in the refrigerator. There is always a reason she can't or won't do something. Likely the "person" wouldn't eat them if they came from a larger can and were put into a different container. That would make too much sense. Jill |

Heaven forfend you buy a larger can and then break it down into smaller portions. There's going to be a reason it won't work. Sorry but her daughter is not a Princess. I never would have told my mother: I won't eat that unless it comes out of a smaller can. Really?! Why doesn't this "person" shop for her own food? She has a car so there's no reason why she can't also do her own grocery shopping. Maybe if she didn't have Mommy running all over town looking for those tiny cans of pears she might learn something. Such as: You don't always get what you want. She might even learn how to cut up and eat a fresh pear. Jill |

Remember those special small cans --not flattish like tuna-- labeled "diet", back in the 60s-70s? Turns out the incredibly high price (2X-3X) on those things was due to the cannery having to literally build the can run, each yr, then tear it down. So few were actually run, it was an inconvenience to have this short run diet thing set up, permently. Know what the "diet" part of it was? They turned off the salt dispenser. nb |

That would make too much sense. Shut up Jill! I didn't say who this person was. And you don't know our situation here at all. Nor am I going to mention it here. I merely asked about the small cans of pears. You are nothing but a mean, bitter, little old lady and you're not even old yet! |

I usually stock up when they are on sale. And a large can would just be a waste of money in this house as they are eaten sporadically. It would be like when I was a kid. Open a can of pears, put the rest in the fridge and by the time you want them again, they are moldy. Plus my fridge is so small that I don't like using it for leftovers that may not be eaten. |

If this was my family, the answer is "tough crap, this is what they have, take it or leave it" Don't want the larger size? Great, you get nothing and I save a couple of bucks. If you prefer to spoil your family and give them every whim, that is your choice. Makes for a tough life for their future. Good luck. |

I'm not going to buy the larger size? Why should I pay more and then either wind up giving it away, uneaten, or have to throw half or more of it out. That makes no sense. I always get what I want. It might take awhile but I don't settle for less. You can do what you want. |
