I have, on at least three prior occasions, written posts that delve into the “alleged” lurid past of one of our former presidents, George Herbert Walker Bush (GHWB), the current but ailing patriarch of the Bush Family Dynasty – I refer to them as the Bush Family Crime Syndicate, certainly not in terms of endearment – but rather more like the Mafia Godfather who prepares his sons to take over the family business upon his death. This particular post references an article by Stew Webb, a contributor of Veterans Today. In his life-time, George H. W. Bush (GHWB) has controlled every clandestine (hidden from view) and secret organization/operation within the arsenal of the United States government as either 1) Director of the CIA, 2) Vice President to Ronald Reagan (who was an unwitting puppet to the Bush controlled cabal – GHWB secretly gave Reagan poisons that hastened his fall into Alzheimer’s Disease and evidence suggests he helped plan Reagan’ attempted assassination by John Hinckley, whose family were close friends of the Bush family – a coincidence?) and 3) ultimately as President of the United States before Bill Clinton took office. |

Yes, black with grey is a good combination but NOT on the exterior of a house. Grey siding with black trim all around and windows and doors and frames looks very Gothic and not so appealing. Black on just shutters and doors only looks ok and is common. I wish you luck and hope you like the outcome. Send a pic if you would. I'll be nice the review regardless. heheheh |

Pretty simple to paint the side that's in shadow, the side that's not receiving direct sun. The north side of my house is always in shade, the east and west sides are each in shadow half the day... only the south side receives full sun all day, except on cloudy days so wait for a cloudy day to paint the south side. I've seen house painters erect a tarp to shade the section they're painting. A lot of construction workers use a tarp to shade the area they're working. At my last house when laying in pavers for my patio it was a very hot day, they shaded the work area with their big truck, and was easy to move the shade as the work progressed. When mowing I use two different tractors, I park the one I'm not using in the shade cast by the barn, then later it's not roasting hot. Unless there's a good breeze it's hotter inside the barn than outside in the shade. |

It's quite shocking! Luckily, her husband won't mind much because he's dead. My dad thinks the lady is going coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs because she keeps hearing screaming from the neighbor's houses and has called the authorities several times. We believe her to be paranoid. Maybe her purple house is giving her bad vibes. > > I think a Second Empire house with a mansard roof could look quite > good painted grey with black trim (and perhaps some sort of red > accent color, used with extreme moderation). BTW, we > don't really care what shade you aren't "allowed" to paint the trim. > Personally I wouldn't let anyone tell me what I could or couldn't do. > Certainly not someone I was paying to paint the house. What? That's not what I said at all. I said if my husband chose black, *I* would not allow it. Thankfully he doesn't care what color I choose. I will not choose the color I would really want which would be plum or purple because it just wouldn't look right on this type of a house. Looks fine on a Victorian, IMO. Gary may know about painting houses in his area. I doubt that he knows anything about our houses here. Don't forget, I used to sell paint and I was in charge of that dept. for many years. I do know that paint has changed since I sold paint, but I know how to look stuff up online and I can read what it says on the cans. Exterior paint is best applied when the temp. is not below 50 or above 85. We had many days that were over 90, all in a row, despite what Gary said. We broke a record. And our deck is a prime example of why you do not paint when the temp is around 90. Husband painted it on a very hot day, 3 or perhaps it was 4 years ago. Paint is almost all chipped off now. It started blistering and chipping almost immediately. We moved into this house almost 11 years ago. The paint was fine up until we had the garage door opener repairs done and then it began to chip a tiny bit on the trim around it. This hot weather made other parts of the house begin to chip a little bit too. I have no clue when they painted prior to us buying it. But as a general rule, paint that has been applied properly will last at least 10 years in this area. I know that is not the case in some other areas. We had to have our house in Wichita painted every 3 years. I had one of my husband's relatives beg us to get vinyl siding so we wouldn't have to paint. She didn't believe me when I told her how long paint lasts here. Then I looked up the vinyl siding because it is so uncommon here but common in other places. The reason it is so uncommon here? Granted, our current weather is an extreme exception. But normally it is cool and somewhat damp here. Not necessarily raining but overcast. Water seeps under the siding and into the wood beneath where it becomes trapped, never dries out and turns moldy at best or totally rots the wood at worst. There is no one size fits all when it comes to paint or siding. I am going with gloss paint too. Flat seems to be the current norm but that's a bad idea here too. One side of our house tends to get mildew. With gloss, you can wash it off. I also think it looks better. The house on the other side of me looks like total crap because he used waaaay too many different shades of brown, a blah looking almost harvest gold color and all flat paint. Painter tried to talk him out of it. Said it wouldn't look good. And after the gold was applied, he agreed. It didn't look good. But he felt it would look different with the trim paint on. Other neighbor told me, "It does look different. It looks worse!" I had to laugh. I don't know why they didn't stick with the colors that were on it which was a brownish red and a grayish green. They did look good. |

Over 85 is fine but not in the full sun. Look up all you want on paint labels or the internet. Even ask the clerks at a paint store. They are famous for giving out bad advice to homeowners. If you want the truth, you ask someone who has been painting for a living for 40 years and knows all about what products hold up and the conditions that they can be applied. You worked in the paint dept of K-Mart and you are an expert? ;-d |

I question no ones taste of colors. Each to their own. One window unit looks fine against the brick. Show the entire house with black trim to fail. I'll bet you don't have black trim on yours. G. |
