Except in very, very rare occasions ... I do, but thank you for deciding

Indeed! I thank you for passing on very useful information, although
I'm sorry you had to discover it the hard way. Ever since my current
doctor told me I had no need to avoid any foods (including corn, which I
had sorely missed) I've been enjoying it. Into the freezer it goes and
it comes out tasting just fine.

My grandfather was a farmer, so we always had all the sweet corn we
could eat. I don't think you would enjoy eating it the way you
described (freshly picked but uncooked and eaten while standing in the
corn field). That did bring more memories back. When I was quite
small, I would run and play in my grandfather's corn field. The corn
stalks would be much higher than my head and I would pretend that I was
lost. Many farmers would not permit children to play in their corn
fields, but my grandfather did not object. If you have seen the movie
"North by Northwest," there is a scene in it that made me think of when
I played in the corn field.

For me, there's quite a bit of difference between nudging something
on a plate and glomming all over it to stack it up.

It probably doesn't matter around here; the health department forbids
the handling of ready-to-eat food with ungloved hands.

Another factor is how much the food cools in the time it takes them
to stack it up or overcooks due to residual heat before it gets
to me. I'd rather eat slightly cooled food than overcooked food,
but I suspect I'm in the minority there. Best of all would be
perfectly cooked food at a temperature that won't burn my mouth.

That's how I used to grow veggies--tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini,
etc. Everything was large and extra tasty. The tomatoes were so sweet
they almost tasted like I had added sugar. My parents said my bell
peppers were the first time they had seen anyone use a wire cage so they
could grow up in the inside of the cage (because the peppers were so
large they would drag the plant down without a cage).

Ridiculous IMO, same with any sandwich stacked so high that it's impossible
to eat.

If I have to use a knife and fork to eat a sandwich, I'd rather not.

I've never actually seen one of those served in a restaurant. Guy Fieri
seems to feature things like that on his show. It's not the norm
anywhere I've ever eaten.

I agree with you. I also don't think food stacked timbale style is
meant to be served piping hot anyway. IME, food that's meant to be
served hot is served on a hot plate.

The taste depends upon the variety. The stuff that farmers grow now
to sell as sweet corn isn't the same as the stuff back then. With
current varieties you can absolutely stand in the corn field and
nibble it raw. There are salad recipes out there that call for fresh
corn, uncooked.

Silly really, just for publicity. I don't know anyone that can bite into
