My store-bought packages of tortillas are sticking together. Most of them
would not separate without tearing and peeling. This brand used to be ok. I'm careful to get them in their own bag at the checkout and not press on them otherwise. Didn't help. Will try another brand next pruchase but it is VERY anoying. Anyone have and suggestions - beside making my own as I need them? -- You know it's time to clean the refrigerator when something closes the door from the inside. |

If you zap them briefly as wrapped 10-15 seconds in the microwave they should separate. Also if you take them out of the pack, wrap in foil, but put a few drops of water inside first, you can put them in a warm over (275F) for a few minutes and they'll separate nicely. But my favorite el cheapo tool is to heat in the microwave using: http://www.amazon.com/IMUSA-MEXI-100.../dp/B00164SI8K They'll keep nice and warm on the table and come apart easily for eating. |

This indicates freshness. I'll go through as many packages and as many brands as necessary until I find a nice soft package of flour tortillas. Actually, I do the same for corn tortillas. It's no different than looking for a softer, fresher loaf of bread. When stocking, employees will move the older stock to the top. Don't be afraid to check out the packages. Janet US |

I buy the Surito and they are made locally. First problem I had was with the seal at the bottom of the bag. It was no good. I would pick up the bag and the tortillas would fall to the floor. I wrote to them and they fixed the problem. Then a few weeks ago, I bought two bags on separate occasions and all of a sudden, the tortillas were sticking. They offered to refund my money but I declined. I had eaten them anyway. I don't know what the problem was but they fixed it. I suspect that they may have been being bagged while still warm. |

The Costco packages are cheap but I think there are something like 50 in the package. Even the smaller packages have too many in there for me. Says to use up something like 6-7 days after opening. I can't eat them fast enough. |

The packages I buy, first of all I make sure they're sort of loose and floppy in the bag so you can tell they aren't stuck together. (First great recommendation for KenK.) Secondly, yes, do repackage them in zip locks (if they don't already come in a resealable package. Third, if they seem to be a bit dried out yes, run some water over them. Pardon the pun, but tortillas are pretty flexible. ![]() Jill |

OMG! I gave it the sniff test then tasted it. The milk was just fine. I'm still alive to tell about it. The dates are purely a guideline, not a mandate. They give some guy on an assembly line something to do. "Here, we're giving you the date-stamp. It's important." Uh huh. ![]() Jill |

The key is to get a flexible package of tortillas in the first place. (I'm talking the large package with 2 packages inside from Costco) I always immediately put the second package in the freezer. I have an area in my freezer that I keep for bread goods. Everything there is double bagged. Janet US |

Yes, they freeze together, but pop off easily one by one by inserting the tip of a chef's knife in the seam between the top two and twisting slightly. |
