I finally got around to buying some of those molds for baking taco salad
shells from tortillas. But... They came with no instructions. I just winged it. Softened the flour tortillas slightly in the microwave. Attempted to fit them into the molds. Maybe needed to soften them a tiny bit more as they didn't entirely conform but the end result as far as shape was fine. They worked. But... They didn't crisp up! I had the oven on to 350 as I was baking a carrot cake. I took them out when the edges began to brown as I didn't want them to burn. but the bottoms were still a bit soft. Letting them sit for a few minutes seemed to help. My husband ate his right away. No complaints. But I am dawdling over mine and now it has sort of melted down to a soggy mess. So where did I go wrong? Should I have oiled the tortilla? Baked it at a different temp.? Thanks. |

And what difference does it make if the shell is fluted or not? The shape effects the taste not at all. Carry on, ****tard. |

For family home eating, does it really matter as long as it's cooked right and holds whatever filling? |

When I make things like taco salads, they do look fancy. If you had just a bowl shape, I think it would lead to a big, sloppy mess. Besides... I already bought the molds. They were super cheap. And I intended to use them. |

It's a thingy to hold a salad. > An actual bowl would work as well. Like I said to Gary... With the crown shape, you can tuck things in so they don't roll around and fling out. Like olives or little round tomatoes. Besides, I had asked about the molds specifically because that is what I used. I used them because I specifically wanted that shape. I do not much like making salads. I find them to be rather boring. So when I do make them, I go all out. I have gotten compliments from strangers about the way I arrange stuff at a salad bar. And my taco salads are no different. I used to take the ingredients to make them at the dance studio and people there commented that they looked good. I do remember getting a taco salad at Taco Bell in CA. That was before I knew of all the crap that they put in their food. I will not eat there now. I actually can't, but that's beside the point. Now I don't remember what shape the shell from there was. Perhaps it was a bowl. I just remember that it was a big mess by the time that I got it home. Nothing but a slop fest. I wound up giving it to my husband. He did eat a little of it but even he didn't like it. I had asked for no sour cream and they seemed to have put extra on there. |

I have, on at least three prior occasions, written posts that delve into the “alleged” lurid past of one of our former presidents, George Herbert Walker Bush (GHWB), the current but ailing patriarch of the Bush Family Dynasty – I refer to them as the Bush Family Crime Syndicate, certainly not in terms of endearment – but rather more like the Mafia Godfather who prepares his sons to take over the family business upon his death. This particular post references an article by Stew Webb, a contributor of Veterans Today. In his life-time, George H. W. Bush (GHWB) has controlled every clandestine (hidden from view) and secret organization/operation within the arsenal of the United States government as either 1) Director of the CIA, 2) Vice President to Ronald Reagan (who was an unwitting puppet to the Bush controlled cabal – GHWB secretly gave Reagan poisons that hastened his fall into Alzheimer’s Disease and evidence suggests he helped plan Reagan’ attempted assassination by John Hinckley, whose family were close friends of the Bush family – a coincidence?) and 3) ultimately as President of the United States before Bill Clinton took office. Barbara J Llorente 71 Cerritos Ave San Francisco, CA 94127. Age 65 (Born 1950) (415) 239-7248. Background Check - Available. Record ID: 47846596. |

Yep, deep frying is a cooking method I'm VERY familiar with, after making donuts for 8 years six nights a week! John Kuthe... |

Too much and I get sick. |
