It is understandable though. When I lived in India and in Europe in the
summer, all I wanted were cold drinks too)

Apparently bidet owners have never heard of toilet paper.

Oh I use toilet paper BEFORE I use the bidet. I don't consider just wiping
myself with paper is clean enough.

I prefer to wash and be properly clean!

There are inexpensive (under $100) bidet attachments for toilets that
are becoming increasingly popular. Lots of models on Amazon, some cold
water line only, some with both hot and cold water. Amazon had a cold
water model on a lightning deal yesterday.

sf, your 300 pound back side is a waste of space barbaric or
otherwise.

Mine is fairly old now (it does have hot and cold water) but you can get
bidet/toilet combinations now. Not sure how they work though.

One of the earlier extrasweet (versus supersweet) hybrids to hit the
market was 'Sweetie' a yellow extrasweet corn. It retained the real
corn flavor and traditional texture, it was just about a third
sweeter, and the sugar changed to starch much more slowly. It could be
stored, refrigerated for about a week without significantly impairing
its sweetness and texture*. Alas, the supersweets quickly overwhelmed
the extrasweets in popularity. Apparently the general public decided
it liked corn that was decidedly sweet (instead of just sweeter) and
crispier, too.

You can still find Sweetie seed for sale at some of the bulk seed
merchants. I got my brother growing it when it was first introduced in
the 1980s and he won't grow anything else.

*I recall a very warm autumn where a farmer friend harvested the very
last of his Sweetie at the end of October. We kept in our coolers
until Thanksgiving, and served corn on the cob as part of our dinner.
It was still very good, though not at its best, but - locally grown
corn on the cob in Minnesota in November was quite the remarkable thing.

Works for me! I don't want corn that tastes like it was dipped in
sugar.

I've been in hotel rooms with them in the bathroom. Teeny tiny
showers, but there's a bidet to wash their asses.

Tell me, sf! If you get shit on your hands, will you just wipe it off with
toilet paper?

Well, I don't know about a waste of floor space, but my 5x10 bathroom
is completely occupied by the bath tub, toilet, and sink (which is
set into a vanity that provides much-needed storage).

I had my bath removed many years ago when I had a new bathroom suite
installed. I have a shower, basin, bidet and toilet. I never liked baths

Bidets are not common here either, but I lived for many years in countries
which did use them and I have been using them since my mid 20s

It's what you get used to I suppose, but I don't denigrate anyone for NOT
having one! That is just puerile!

LOL! And this is a cooking ng? wth? heheh

One thing that combines the two... I think it's the muslims that only
use their left hands for wiping their butts so to use that hand for
cooking is not good.

Ever notice Mario Batalli when he's cooking? He does almost every
thing with his right hand and keeps his left hand down. If you
haven't noticed, watch the next time you see him cooking something.
I'm just wondering if he is a muslim too.

I think he does it because that's the hand that gabs the jars and
anything else he wants to stay clean. If you've ever watched chefs
demonstrate how to coat chicken with that flour, egg, flour method -
they recommend using the non-dominate hand for the dirty and the
dominate hand for the clean part. It's just good kitchen sense.
