From my experience, I could not have bought that property for 225,000 in Tasmania. Or for 300,000 or probably 400,000. But Sydney is another story altogether, I agree. I'm glad we want to live in the countryside. Properties are so much cheaper, yet bigger, there. -- Bruce |

Or for 300,000 or probably 400,000 Maybe not in Hobart or surrounding areas, or inner Launceston. But in many other areas I think you'll find that price is about right these days. When I get fried chicken (from a local place owned by an elderly Korean couple), I douse it in hot sauce. Hold the blue cheese dressing. They keep Louisiana hot sauce on the counter, which is close enough for me. Cindy Hamilton |

When I go to the Club I order the food to go. I sit at the bar and wait for it. The idea that the wages for "tipped" employees in SC is still $2.13/hr is ridiculous. Servers do a lot more than just take an order and bring you a plate of food. While I was waiting for my to-go order a couple of servers were standing there talking to Marenia, the woman I know. (She's been working there as a bartender for a few years.) I smiled and offered to help roll some silverware. Marenia was completely surprised! "You've worked in restaurants?" You betcha, just not recently. I doubt she runs into that with many of the run-of-the-mill Club customers. Jill |
