Default Preserving garlic

How's things on RFC? Still much the same by the looks of it

I'm looking for some alternative ways to preserve garlic. I've done it
in oil before but am interested in other methods. My favourite way is
to simply hang the bulbs in a cool, dark and dry place, but that only
seems to work for 8 months or so before it deteriorates and I'd like
to make it last until next harvest. Has anyone tried freezing the
cloves, either peeled or unpeeled? If so, what is it like after
thawing. TIA for any ideas.

I don't really have a cool, dark place so every so often I buy five or
six garlic bulbs, peel, drop in FP and chop - then I put in a ziplock
and freeze. Everytime I want to add a little garlic, just break off a
piece and use. Keeps flavour perfectly.

I have purchased a large quantity of peeled cloves and frozen them in
small containers. I thought they turned out really good.

Thanks Janet. I might do a bit of both - mince some up and keep some
whole cloves too, as sometimes I like to use whole or chopped up
cloves in big chunks. I might try freezing some whole bulbs (unpeeled)
too so I can add them to roasts.
