Not ONLY will your computer never sent any security alert to anyone
without your help, Microsoft is ABSOLUTELY the last place that
would get such a notice, IF such notices even existed.

Not yours, pity...

You criminally STALK and ABUSE women, you sick little dwarfy man!

Here's what you did when you went all over the Usenet impersonating the
well-liked regular named "sf" and posting all her personal data on the
net against her will, including her:

* home address
* age
* cell phone number
* husband's name

etc.

YOU did that, you evil *******!

And then you had the hubris to actually GLOAT about in public saying:

She should call the cops. I've already publicly admitted it is me so

So what's stopping her? I think she suffers from Bovism - she just
loves the attention and drama and screw the rest of the group.

Microsoft's plan is to not support Win 7 or 8.X. They want to make the previous versions of Windows incompatible with the latest Intel processors. Their vision is their latest OS driving the newest hardware. Just like the old days! I say bully for them!

Their vision is to monetise Windows in a way that they have never been
able to do in the past - the way Apple has monetised OSX.

The difference being that MS does not control or manufacture all the hardware that Windows 10 will run on. This is a good thing. My guess is Microsoft plan for world domination will fail.

IBM dropped the ball, as IBM thought the money was gonna be in the hardware of the PC. Bill Gates and MicroSUCKS made the very shrewd business decision to buy outright a stinkly simple text based operating system called QDOS (for Quick and Dirty Operating System(, rebranded it as MS-DOS and LICENSED it not only to IBM but also to any Tom, Dick and Smarmy who could throw a hardware box together and speciously call it "100% IBM compatable"!!! And that is why the PC market dominated the personal computing market for so long!!

IBM's downfall is most remarkable. Everybody assumed they would dominate
the personal computer market but that didn't happen - so much for the
plans of mice and men. IBM didn't want to own exclusive rights to this
second-party *******-son OS from Microsoft because they needed a fall
guy just in case something went South in this new marketplace. Heck,
this sounds like a shrewd move on IBM's part. IBM didn't drop the ball -
they were trying to cover theirs.

My wife spent some time learning IBM new OS/2 system. Hoo boy, that was
some slick system. It seemed at the time this would be the future of
computing. Then MS came out with Windows 3.X - and the rest is history.

I think you will find that IBM did in fact drop the ball. IBM had no
concept of 'shrewd moves' and it was their arrogance that caused their
own downfall in the PC marketplace.

You do know that IBM partnered with Micro$oft to produce OS/2, don't
you? In fact, the 'look and feel' of OS/2 went on to be used by
Micro$oft in their Windows 3.X efforts.

For that matter, OS/2 still exists in the form of 'eComStation'.

I don't find that at all. I don't believe that IBM is an entity that drops balls.

Why would you think that I did not know about the partnership of IBM and Microsoft on OS/2?

I already knew that OS/2 and Windows look and feel similar.

There was a point where Apple decided to keep everything in-house and
whoever it was (I thought it was IBM) decided open-source was the way
to go. Two different philosophies and ways of doing business. One
wanted to complete control of everything from concept to point of
sales, the other was a free market approach. Personally, I don't like
the Apple way and don't buy Apple products.

Understood, but just like when Gates invested in Apple's failing debt,
it was a business masterstroke.
