We got really tired of the phone calls. Our neighbors have one and
are pleased with the peace and quiet.

Looks nice. I went another way: got rid of my land line.
No junk calls, and I can turn it right off at bed time.
I don't feel a need to be available in the middle of the
night. Dying people can just wait until morning. I'm not
a doctor or a nurse, and I wouldn't be helpful in such a
situation.

It's a scam. Cells phones are not a viable mode of transport.

Yeah, I got one too. However, cell phone calls are maybe one per
month, landline calls are at least a dozen per day.

Blimey! I get fewer than that in a week, and one of those might be from
a local charity.

You criminally STALK and ABUSE women, you sick little dwarfy man!

Here's what you did when you went all over the Usenet impersonating the
well-liked regular named "sf" and posting all her personal data on the
net against her will, including her:

* home address
* age
* cell phone number
* husband's name

etc.

YOU did that, you evil *******!

Even after several years of NOT answering any number I don't recognize,
I still get calls almost daily, sometimes a few a day.

Some ARE 'legal' survey calls for political entities, but I still don't
answer them.

The majority don't leave a message, a sure sign that they ARE scammers.

I almost always look up the number after they've called, just to see
which scam it is currently targeting me.

Ay caramba! But seriously folks, I did have one lady tell me that she was taking a phone home with her to Yap. I got a big smile out of that one.
