I don't think you can 'legally' do it here either, but people do and
how is the law going to get after them? They should be thankful
someone doesn't want to take up space when dead

My condolences. Unfortunately, I've been though that several times. I've
gotten so I'm afraid to get another cat and go though it again. I'm
lonely.

Yes, I know very well how hard it is, but think about rescue animals? You
could give another poor wee cat a loving home and yourself the pleasure of
the company? I haven't got over losing my last dog yet, but unusually, I
got another rescue fairly quickly. Although I am still feeling the loss of
Bonnie, my new girl Poppy is helping me. At least my previous dogs had
good lives with me which perhaps they wouldn't have had. Something to think
about? Good luck if you do and report back

True, our second rescue was 3 days from being put down when Animal Friends
Connection rescued her, every time I think about it, it hurts me to think
that she was that close since she is a wonderful dog and has a great life
going with us, as I'm sure Poppy does with you and himself. I always say no
more, but who knows.

Do it! There are so many unfortunate cats that need homes - it's
unfortunate we last longer but no pain no gain.

A friend in this building took on a little dog that was destined to go
the next day, she would rather have had a younger dog as this one is
around 9 and heartbreak will come again sooner, but he is the
loveliest little thing. Part chihuahua and part wire haired terrier.
He looks like a chihauhua with stand up ears but covered in long grey
and white wire haired fur. Sort of a miniature wolf

Your girl is very lucky you found her

We were very lucky with Blue. We got her when she was 10 yo and we had her
until she died at 17 yo. That was very hard and it took over year before I
could go back to the rescue centre. When our Bonnie died I was determined
not to let it go so long. It was hard but I forced myself to go to the
centre after a few weeks. It was too soon. Of course there were some
lovely dogs there but none was my Bonnie and I just cried. Instead of
going to the centre after than I just looked online on their website and saw
Poppy. She was in a bad state and I just had to go and get her. She is the
youngest we have had, around 6/7 yo so hopefully we will have her a lot
longer.

So no, never say no more I do hope Ken takes his courage in his hands and
finds another lost soul to love.

We have plenty lost souls here to take care of. We don't need to look
elsewhere. I do hope people in their own countries will look after those
poor souls.

Yes, our is a rat terrier, no spring chicken, but a great little girl.

I know where Graham is coming from - some stupid woman imported 40
dogs from California!!!!! We have our own dogs looking for homes and
they should come first. She received plenty of criticism, if she does
do it again, doubt she'll be advertising it. I can just about see
rescue Greyhounds, but nothing more.

Is she a Chihuahua mix like him? He's a lovely little dog, sit on the
sofa and he cuddles up next to you, we reckon he belonged to someone
elderly and something happened for him to be out on the street. She
had to cut his nails they were so long, but these days he walks enough
they're fine.

Pit bulls are banned in Ontario. Thanks to a law passed about 10 yeara
go, you can't buy one here, breed them or import them. Existing pit
bulls have to be on a leash and muzzled in public. Curiously, the
daughter of a friend of mine adopted a pit bull from the Humane Society.
It had been a rescue from the US.

It is interesting to that the Humane Society is contracted to enforce
livestock and pet related laws and bylaws but seems to have exempted
itself from those same laws. It should not surprise me. A few years ago
the dog catcher came by to sell me licences for my dogs. He may generate
enough revenue going door to door selling the licenses. While he was
here selling me licences, the neighbour's two pit bulls were running
around his van. He did nothing about them.

I feel there is no soul in our house without a dog. I need those girls as

only about 6 pounds.

I looked them up, they said very sociable but it isn't what this one
is, I think the SPCA were correct in a cross Chihuahua with wire
haired.

I see Rat Terriers are a NA breed which is probably why I didn't know
them. Light years ago I had a wire-haired terrier and he was quite
the devil if things didn't go his way

Default OT - Lost one of my cats yesterday

Hi Cheryl

I few days ago I read about the loss of your precious Shamrock.I am so sorry for the pain of your loss. It is so very hard to say good bye. I hope as time passes the tears will lessen and the love and beautiful memories will shine thru.

On January 3rd we lost our cat, Delilah. She was just 4 months shy of her 20th birthday. I feel like a bit of my soul is gone. She had her every 6 month wellness check a few days before Thanksgiving and was proclaimed in very good health. She had a good day on the Sunday she left us. She ate normally in the morning, then she played with one of her felt mice She curled up in her heated cat bed to nap and a couple hours later she was gone.

Our Veterinarian suspects her tiny heart gave out. We had her cremated and her ashes are in a box with the other pets we have loved and lost. One day when my husband and I are gone we will all be laid to rest together. Our son's, daughters in law and older grandkids know our wishes...

Anyway, I wanted to let you know you have been in my thoughts. I have lurked here since 1989. This is the first time I have posted.

Last week I had a friend take me to a shelter to adopt a new rescue. I was planning to adopt a kitten, but a grey and white beauty caught my eye. So she came home with me. She is about 15 months old and adorable. She gets on well with our dogs. Although I miss my tiny Delilah, Lena has quickly stolen our hearts. We live in the city so she will be an indoor cat, as both of our other cats were. I still cry everyday missing Delilah, but to me a house is not a home without cats and dogs.

Cheryl, it will get easier. My dogs are getting older. I just try not to think about it. please know stranger in S.E. Michigan thinks of you often and hopes your pain lessens quickly. I don't think that you have a Shamrock space/hole in your heart. I think you have a big Shamrock sized ball of love there. Someone once told me we would not feel the pain of the loss so terribly if we did not share such unconditional love and a bond so damn strong.

Sending you a hug and hoping the days get easier soon...

Ken, I know how hard it is to think about losing another one. I had no
intention of getting another cat after Persia died. Fate intervened,
however, when Buffy's owner died. I took her in (she's about 6 or 7)
and I am very glad I did! She's a total love bug. Please do consider
adopting one from a local shelter. There are so many animals in need of
a home.

time. I'm honored you too the time to send me condolences. I hope to
