You can change the channels and adjust the volume by pushing buttons on the set, too. There is a set-up/menu button on the equally old remote which allows you to enable closed captioning, set a sleep timer, things like that. You don't have to disable the sound to see closed captions. If you don't want to hear the sound, mute it. For some reason she wants to hear it, even though she doesn't like Pati's voice. Okay. But she likely could turn on closed captions if she wanted to. For one thing, I can't see well enough without my glasses on to see words on the screen. And I rarely wear my glasses at home. For another, I rarely really watch any show. I have the TV on and I listen to it, only looking at the screen once in a while. |

Just not something I'd ever use. I'll bet my old one is older than yours. It doesn't even have buttons. It has a dial. That is not the one we use. It's tiny. Angela had it in her room to watch videos on when she was a kid. We had the VCR hooked to it. |

If it is available to put on there, I wouldn't know how to get it and I wouldn't bother to look it up because I wouldn't use it. |

LOL No. Then I'd constantly have to look at the screen. I never liked Barbara Walter's voice either. Or Bobby Flay's. Actually I just don't like Bobby Flay. |
