Default Coooking up a storm here!

And V day plans foiled. I think I need to listen more carefully when a teen
talks to me.

I bought two pieces of grass fed, organic beef for roasting at Winco today.
My plan was to not get dressed and lounge around having a nice pot roast
dinner. But I didn't realize when I agreed to the sleepover that it was to
be on V day! I had thought the girls were coming on Monday. Apparently
there is no school here this week. So I was fine with that as I had to take
my car in for a recall and was likely not going to be back until dinner time
anyway. Figured I could go back to Winco for the kind of chicken nuggets
that the kids seem to like. But... No. Teens want pizza. So...

I guess husband can have the pot roast for lunch. Because I know he will
want the pizza once he sees and smells it. I have already cooked the beef
because I like to chill and defat it then reheat it. I am roasting some
potatoes and onions now to go with and I will cook a few carrots. Have to
do those separately as I can't eat them. So I guess this will all work out.
There will be leftover roast and veggies in case I don't get back in time
for dinner on Mon.

And... I got a package today. It was the real wild rice. Jinxy that came
quickly! I think I ordered it the day after sw put up the link to it. I
will go cook some later, make it into a chicken soup and report back.

I'm just glad that I have the ice maker now. I have 4 girls coming who only
drink regular soda. Something we never have. So I bought the 2 liter
bottles and they can ice it. I do have an ice bucket that I bought when we
were in NY. That got a lot of use there. During the hot months, I kept it
full of shaved ice.
