Every once in a while I like a G & T. Refreshing, nice flavor. In the
course of a year I probably drink 3 bottles. I like to try different ones at times too. Yesterday I stopped at a nearby liquor store and it is under new ownership and they changed the shelves and merchandise. In the gin aisle, they had 52 different gins. Of the 52, I've already tried about 10. Of the remaining 42 there are about six I have no interest in. That leave 36 different gins to try. At 3 bottles a year, I'm going to be tied up on this project for the next 12 years! This is in addition to the four bourbons and two Scotchs in the house that have to be finished. I'm going to be a busy man. |

Yeah, a gin an tonic and lots of lime is OK, but I prefer Fine Fresh Squeezed Kentucky Corn Juice (bourbon) for my ethanolic imbibement. John Kuthe... |

I've noticed that my husband is happiest when he's in the midst of planning a vacation or something for the house (and then acting as a project manager). He has never been much of a handyman, but he's very good at hiring them. His blue collars were dress shirts, not work shirts. -- sf |

I hate gin and tonic and gin martinis but I do like it mixed with diet 7 up, 4 oz of gin and 5 or 6 of the pop. I'd never mix bourbon or brandy tho.

I'm going to be a busy man. I started trying to explore the terrain about 8 years ago, and found many gins. Now there are likely 5 times that number of gins available, and a number of my favorites from that time, including Zuidam, are no longer available. It's a buys world in spirits these days. The same is likely even more true of bourbons. Additionally 8 years ago in the biggest booze supermarket HiTime Wine ( hitimewine.com ), they had about 8 bitters in total. Now there are two full shelves, maybe over 40. The vermouth shelf had about 12, now it's stwo full shelves, again probably over 40. |

There is definitely a season for gin and tonic. I usually drink my liquor straight, neat or on the rocks. Tonic water is the the only thing I use as a mixer, and only with gin. However, I do occasionally have a shot of gin on the rocks with a twist of lemon. |

Gin alone is nasty, tonic is nasty and so is vermouth. I could drink a vodka martini if it only had 2 or 3 drops of vermouth. When I buy gin I get either Gordon's or Gilbey's.

Especially food... most of my favourite recipes involve so-called cheap cuts of meat or other ingredients. |

He had the same thing for for breakfast almost every day, yogurt with some granola, two poached eggs with cheese and a couple slices of whole wheat toast with butter and honey. He usually had his lunch in a restaurant or one of his clubs. Supper was a couple crackers with peanut butter and a double martini. Sometimes he had a second martini. He was very active and very sharp until he died peacefully in his sleep a couple weeks short of his 95th birthday. |
