![]() The butt portion ham is in the smoker with hickory chips. I figure it will be about 6 hours before ready. I managed to get smoked while putting the ham in. The rest of dinner today will be scalloped potatoes and oven roasted butternut squash. That's it. Nothing fancy. It's raining and dreary here but the smoker is on the covered deck. It's the first time out for the smoker this season. I suppose I could do a lemon soaked pound cake. That wouldn't be too rich to go with the rest of the meal. What are you guys doing? Janet US |

I have some butternut squash I plan to roast but feel no great compunction to do anything with it immediately. Easter is just another day AFIAC. Today I don't have much of an appetite. I also don't have a craving for anything in particular. I might make quesadillas. Enjoy your ham. My mother used to add ham to scalloped potatoes to make a one-dish meal. They're a natural together. ![]() Jill |

I put ham in my mac n' cheese. I also add ham to my red beans sans rice. I've found a way to enjoy my red beans sans rice. I add chopped onions and grated cheese and eat the dish with buttered sourdough bread. Screw a buncha rice. ![]() nb |

I'll grill chicken breast for dinner. It's just another Sunday for us, too. We've done some outdoor chores--pesticide application around the exterior, took a look at the lawn tractor (filled its tire; figured out that the tranny is on its last legs). Later I'll fertilize the garlic crop and put the old hot tub cover on the trailer for next week's trip to the dump. Cindy Hamilton |

I know for sure that My DIL's GF is making a potato casserole that consists of frozen hash browns and canned soup... it sounds terrible and eats like crack She made two huge trays of it last year and they were picked clean. I'm bringing two desserts: Tres Leches Flan and a walnut tart. The flan always goes over well, but it's the first time I've made a walnut tart. Hope it turns out the way I envisioned. I picked off a little overflow and it's very sweet. I wasn't going to bring whipping cream, but maybe I should. -- sf |

That wouldn't be too >rich to go with the rest of the meal. >What are you guys doing? >Janet US I went into town yesterday to buy bread, veggies, soda, etc. and decided to buy a butt half ham, was $1.09 lb, I found one exactly 10 pounds. Package said to heat in the oven at 325º F for 15 minutes per pound, until internal temperature reached 130º F... should have needed three hours but it needed four hours. It's very good ham, very meaty and easy to carve... not nearly as salty as most cured hams. I snapped a pic of the ham but I didn't feel like downloading for just one pic... at a later date, otherwise the dwarf will say I'm lying... if he needs more proof he's welcome to crawl into my trash can to check out the greasy plastic wrapping, but not to worry, I have the register receipt. Dessert will be my lime JELLO w/bananas... already had some while the ham was heating, very good. I'll probably tire of ham in 3-4 days so I'll freeze the rest for soup... I think a meaty smoked ham bone makes far better bean soup than bacon... a nicer soup with all those falling off the bone ham chunks rather than tiny no account petrified bacon bits... and ham doesn't have all that fat to deal with, plus ham costs a whole lot less... I don't even know the price of bacon anymore but it has to cost more than $1.09 lb. Most of the fat on ham is external, very easy to trim and makes a good treat for the crows. Nope, I just don't feel like downloading one pic, but I must say my new eTech xD memory adapter works very nicely, much better than a wire and was only $7. http://sugardalefoodservice.com/Publ...ucts/Hams.aspx |

Never heard of sweetened sour cream - was it simply sweetened with sugar and what does it taste like? Dinner tonight involves chicken thigh fillet, rice and curry... I haven't developed a plan beyond using those ingredients yet. |

Thanks, I might try sweetening some sour cream out of sheer curiosity. >Your dinner sounds good, can't really miss with those ingredients. True. I don't use curry a lot but was in the mood for both it and rice today. I ended up using garlic & onion, tomatoes, a can of coconut cream plus the curry, of course. Also some fresh parsley and served on a bed of basmati. It was yum, I should make this sort of thing more often. |

There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Then after having your nose rubbed in your filthy criminal stalking you came back with, not an apology, nor the slightest remorse, just this: "The facebook group is much more pleasant." But we all know that's only because you cower over there in mortal fear of being booted by the FB admins. You're _so done_ here virus, I mean really ****ing done. I'm making you a project like no other, expect a lot more of your evil abuse and hatred to be aired for all to see here. And we both know there's a google archive full of your hatred of women just waiting to be hung out on the virtual clothesline to dry. Enjoy then, you rotten, worthless misogynistic *******! |
