That makes sense, because she just agreed with you. You two could end up
in an endless loop.

A bit of negativity in that posting Julie...actually it sounds like it might
provide some nice in-season fruit and vegetables for the discerning
populace. The web-site would suggest that there is quite a variety of fresh
farm-grown produce as well as home crafts, etc.
====

It does sound that way. Doesn't it? And yet... I have actually BEEN there.
It is not the place for nice produce. It is the place for Kettle corn,
jewelry, arts and crafts...

Untrue. I am pleased with my bedroom redo, my deck, my fire pit, my
dinner... I could go on and on. I did actually get what appears to be good
produce at PCC and found that they are slated to open here July 1. Can't
wait! Their other locations are too far away for me to go there often.

If you read the reviews, there isn't much produce. Berries and flowers, not
much else. Mostly crafts.

Not me. They are mostly selling stuff that I have no want or need for. But
if I did, I could easily make them myself.

Unless things have changed, the pics of the produce are very misleading.
Nothing like that on the days that we went. And online reviews say there
isn't much produce besides berries.

I really hate the nifty new superstores...Target, K-Mart, Walmart. No
matter what you go there for you always end up walking miles from one
end of the store to the other. It really annoys me. I've joked here
before that I should bring along either my roller blades or my old
skateboard. I'm sure that wouldn't go over there very well but I do
get annoyed with the very long walks.

If you only need two items they will be at opposite ends of the store too.

I hate them too, but I guess that's part of what makes us geezers.

Julie, please do not constantly tell people to read or re-read the
reviews or message you sent. I'm catching up on messages here and
there are like 15 times you told folks that in the last 3 days.

I read it and the reviews the first time. I replied. Seasonal
elements are to be expected in a farmers market. Your season for
growing is just hitting off on a few things and you need to wait for
the later crops.

My area is different (far more south) and fresh red tomatoes (early
bird sorts) are arriving from just south of us. My own are heavy laden
with green ones already. Cropping my own lettuce just fine. I won't
need to buy anything but more seeds until October here.

I have a really bad knee and while at Lowe's the other day, one clerk told
me that something was on one end of the store and when I got there, it was
completely at the other end, I was in a lot of pain by the time I got out of
there, so I hate that too. I don't shop at Target, but same with Super
Walmarts, not so much with the regular Walmart here, but still an
unappreciated hike.

That's no accident. I'm sure your supermarkets are like ours - bread
at one end, dairy at the other end, eggs in a middle isle...

Of course it does, nearly all supermarkets are laid out that way.
Just like their more profitable products are at eye level.

Worse at the big stores like a super Wal Mart.. Groceries at one end,
pharmaceutical stuff at the other, many times the distance between the
bread and milk.

I know some people like the one stop shopping. I prefer to go to places
with god products. I buy my bread from a bakery. I am lucky to have one
in town that sells great bread, dinner rolls, hamburger buns and
pastries. It goes even more against the grain of modern shopping that I
have to get over there early or else he runs out and there won't be more
in the in store oven. I get my drugs from a good local drug store, and
I get most of my produce from a local produce stand.

That's why I am still sort of irritated by the new, bigger Publix
Supermarket. An extra 20,000 square feet or so of... nothing much. A
Hallmark card shop in the supermarket - big whup. You have to walk for
what feels like a half a mile if all you really want to do is buy a
carton of milk and a loaf of bread.

The very same stores that do Super Gigantic are going small too.
Whole Foods has what equates to corner stores and there is a very
manageable Target Express within a 10-15 minute walk from where I
live.

Yep. Personally, I don't those kind of stores. It's convenient, has a
big range of items... but usually not want I want.

That's what I usually find in those stores. They seem to have
everything, but not what I want.

I'd rather support some of the local businesses anyway, who are also
more specialist in nature and DO have what I want.

You are hopeless. The first things offered ARE berries because that is what is ready for market. Later comes the soft fruit as it matures and also the green veggies. Your name should be IMPATIENCE because you want instant gratification at every store you visit...the best produce...the best price...the best parking spot...definitely SPOILED as you fully admit to being.

I know right! ? My legs can be totally numb by the time I'm
finished just trying to "run" in and pick up a couple of things.
Not to mention when stores decide to move things around so I have
to go looking for them. I swear store managers forget about some
demographics like us when they turn their stores upside down for
who knows why.

She doesn't seem to grasp the concept of "seasonal". Of course berries
are available now in the Pacific NW. 'Tis the season. Here in the
Southern US we've got a whole different climate and a slew of different
spring produce. Squashes and eggplant, blueberries and raspberries.
Different types of greens including broccoli. Small potatoes. Tomatoes.

She wants Instant Gratification. So buy imported fruit/vegetables at
the grocery store. Of course, said produce will likely have been picked
early (not ripe enough) and shipped from another country. Stored in a
warehouse for who knows how long. But hey, it's available year round.

No one is telling her she has to shop at farmers markets or a farm or
fruit or vegetable stands.

I don't think the employees like it any better (nor are they discounting
their customers) when some corporate idiot they've never met decides to
shuffle the store. The store manager gets a memo...

Therein lies the problem with Julie. She seems to expect fresh
produce, even that which isn't in season. So then, she has to buy
imported produce which naturally is rarely as good as fresh and in
season locally. Then she complains about it.

Why are you walking the entire store, the groceries department is all
in one area... Gary can't resist checking out the zoftig ladie's
foundation garments, he's mesmorized by those 38 H cup bras and
waiting patiently to see the women who buy them... that just proves
he's normal, like me. That's how I met Sarah Goldstein at Fortunoff's
when I complimented her on her choice of teal, a natural redhead. Then
she helped me choose an oriental rug that had a lot of teal in it, she
lookd good on it. heheheh Some 40 years ago.
