Boiled old-crop red potatoes. Oven fried pork shoulder steak using cast iron pan...pork seasoned with poultry seasoning, garlic salt and ground black pepper.
Old crop yellow wax beans (cleaning out the fridge). Pumpkin pie with vanilla flavored ice-cream to follow later. The secret to even cooking of pork steak (as we amateur cooks soon learned), is so slash all around the steak every half inch or so to prevent buckling and twisting. ==== |

So we went out to eat but late, so it was hard to find a place with AC that was open. We went to a Mexican place in Woodinville, not even realizing that it wasn't the same place until I looked at the sign outside. I noticed something on the computer about the VIP club. Buy 8 meals and get a free one. I asked about it but they all seemed confused. They registered me but then gave me a coupon for a free meal. I then noticed after we sat down that the menu had changed. I can't say what's going on. Same bowls, plates, flatware, tables and decor. Seemingly all new front of the house staff. Menu was more limited but what we ordered was similar to what was on the old menu and tasted the same. Pico De Gallo also had cabbage in it like at the other place. They did have different hot sauces on the table. Husband called and wanted dinner. We thought he should come up there and finish our food. The portions are far too large, just like the old place. We shall be availing ourselves of their AC if our summer plays out like it has been. Lots of places to shop near there and even a movie theater. And their service is super slow which normally isn't a good thing. But is very nice when the main reason you are in there is for the AC. Husband had some marked down Chinese takeout from Haggen. It was well after 10:00 p.m. by the time we bought his food so it was slim pickin's. I will be going into the kitchen soon to make pasta salad for tomorrow. |

Obviously since we were not home, we couldn't get his dinner. He could have eaten then leftover soup, the sandwich or any of the other things in the stuffed full fridge, but he didn't. And doesn't Taz move quickly? Heh. He goes into full on recliner mode once home. |

He's so spoiled, imo. :-D Also: To ferret-proof your house, the recliners are the first things to go. >:-o |

That works but pork shoulder steaks/chops braised in tomato sauce makes for tender falling off the bone pork and great pasta sauce. >==== |

I'm pretty sure in many countries recliners are illegal. Someone once gifted me a motorized recliner, with vibrater and heat... first thing I did was take a pair of dykes to the wire right at the motor so it couldn't recline... a few months later It went to the curb, was very uncomfortable and took up too much room. Instead I have a wonderful red leather throne with matching hassock, extrordinarilly comfy, from Levengers but they no longer carry it, I guess at three grand they didn't get many takers: http://i67.tinypic.com/fp3sd1.jpg That's a great LLBean wool blankie. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/22955...+point+blanket |
