Fried egg with cheese is really no different from an omelet with cheese.

Well Exactly!!! I thought you were talking about something in particular
LOL

We were down at the farm the past few weeks and in the nearest wee town, is
a Lakeland slap bang in the middle of the main street !!! I mean, you have
to pass (for which read pop in) it just to do the regular shopping ...
Where do you think I got my sandwich toaster?

Phew!!! Incidentally have you come across Steamer Trading?? It is similar
and I first came across it when we were down in Oxford. They have opened
one right opposite Lakeland!

Not as good though

If you think an omelet isn't any different from a fried egg, then
there is no reason to waste your time and effort making an omelet.

Works for me! I had one like that some time back. I shifted eating
and it found a home with some sailors first setting up an apartment.

Not a bad device though.

These devices were all the rage in the states over a couple of decades ago. I've had a couple of them. We called them "snack makers." They have fallen out of favor but one of these days, they could be hot again. I can see them being popular once again with kids that grew up eating these things.

I didn't grow up with stuff like that, but I do love the grilled cheese
sandwiches you all forced me to make ... so I thought using something like
that would be easier and I can use less butter

Trying to streamline things in the US house. We're considering selling,
if the market improves - also I don't want the kids to have to deal with
mountains of stuff.

My kids probably ate a bunch of those sandwiches made in those gizmos so they might think it's a neat blast from the past. My guess is that the Chinese are gonna want to eat like Americans. Ha ha, it's about time.

Oh, so does that mean you will come home permanently?? Cool

I know what you mean about the kids. We are doing the same. Kitchens
are just a wee bittie different though .. no?? Fortunately eldest gdaughter
loves to cook and is in her element on my kitchen, so hopefully that won't
be too much of a problem ... well that's my excuse anyway Mind you, it is
not exactly cluttered!

OTOH they do stock these bannetons:
http://tiny.cc/xgtkcy

I bought one when I did the cooking course at the Mistley Kitchen shop
(http://www.mistleykitchen.com/) a month ago and I've used it several
times since returning to Calgary. It is the best banneton that I have
used and I have cane and linen ones galore.

That may be on the cards. Himself is now doing free-lance tele-commuting
stuff. The "broadband' available at our place in Scotland sucks, though,
so...

Well that's not gonna happen. I favor these thingies in general and this model in particular. It makes great cheese sandwiches:

Being seriously considered. A number of people down the road from us
have gone for it, including a cousin who needs it for work.
