Default dinner 6/29

Pork ribs, slow cooked in the oven and finished on the grill being slathered with sauce to carmelize and make a wonderful crust.

"Deli Health Salad" my favorite no-mayo slaw.
http://hizzoners.com/index.php/recip...i-health-salad

juicy, local super sweet corn on the cob, done on the grill, husk pulled back and silks removed, husks put back up and grilled for a few minutes. Tons of butter.

Yummy artisan rosemary and sea salt sourdough bread.

Died and gone to heaven.

I'm having tacos again.

I arrived home after shopping and stopped at Little Caesars for some pizza,
figuring that the teens would just be getting up, considering that they
didn't go to bed until long after the sun came up.

Turns out that they used the oven to heat up frozen food. I was less than
pleased with this as I dislike having the oven on when it's hot. Worse
still, they left it one!

And yet... Even though they had just eaten, they still ate pizza.

I didn't buy much today. Steaks, ground beef, ketchup and a little produce.
Also stopped by the bread store where they had some good looking Artisan
bread but it was a huge loaf and it expires on the 1st. I opted instead from
some sourdough rye.

The flip flopping Albertsons is going back to an Albertsons tomorrow and I
have a coupon for $10 off a $50 order. So we will be going there after some
other shopping and a trip to the new Mexican place in Woodinville. Got a
text that we get a free dinner tonight or tomorrow only. Tomorrow it is.

Nothing particularly special here. Pork chops, sauteed beet greens,
and beet and barley risotto.

It was rather time-consuming to make it all - I'm not sure it was
worth the effort.

your rissoto sounds interesting. Was it pink? Could you taste the
beet as separate from the barley?

If I had a smoker I would have done the ribs in there for 12 hours or so, but the slow bake in the oven and grill finish works really well. I think that's why I haven't done ribs more often, my own opinions about how ribs "should" be done. This batch has pretty much put that to rest !! ;-)
