That's because you give most of your money to your Chinese landlord,

I don't get it? I usually just whip out my credit card, stick it in
their card reader and leave. How can it be an improvement to flip
through my iphone apps, turn on the Walmart app, scan some image?

Please, somebody keep that person from getting in front of me who sets
her pocket book the size of a diaper bag on the counter, starts
rumbling through it searching for her 20th Century style check book,
finally pulls out the check book to write a check and tells the
Cashier there is no ink in her pen. Now the Cashier starts looking all
over the store to find a manager with a pen.

I'm all set to leave the store you stupid man. I've written my check
and paid my bill, but you've stopped to put your credit card in your
wallet and left your cart blocking the exit lane. Most women can push
their cart, put their card away and walk at the same time.

My wallet with driver's license is always with me when I leave home, not
always my phone. CC or cash will always be faster.

I'm looking forward to an app which encourages shoppers to leave

Sound like a combination of pay by phone and scanning items as they go
into the cart. Woohoo. A self checkout variation that will increase
the time they have customers in the stores, inside the aisles. How
many more employees can they eliminate now?

I have no cell phone and have no desire to get one. Just like the
government (GMO label reading) and scanning as you go, plus
the assumption by nearly every entity that everyone has a computer,
I'm ag'in this too. Bah, humbug.

Don't own a cell phone? Then the app isn't for you. End of story.

Maybe. Misconception that you have to start withdrawing at age 70 1/2.
That only applies if you are no longer employed or are the owner of the
business depending on the plan.

https://www.irs.gov/retirement-plans...ributions-rmds

Terms of the plan govern
The plan’s terms may allow you to wait until the year you actually
retire to take your first RMD (unless you are a 5% owner).
Alternatively, a plan may require you to begin receiving distributions
by April 1 of the year after you reach age 70½, even if you have not
retired.

I don't know which they had then, only that it wasn't usable for her
needs. Probably have to start withdraw at 70 1/2 sort.

And let's not forget who "ruined that country." Democrats!
Kennedy started it and Johnson took it way overboard.
Lucky YOU didn't have to worry about getting drafted back then

You got dragged into a conflict to back a corrupt regime. It all could
have been avoided if the US had truly honoured its commitment to
democracy by insisting on holding the plebiscite on reunification that
had been part of the deal to end the hostilities in their civil war. The
Vietnamese wanted their country back. The French had colonized it and
lost it to the Japanese. The Vietnamese helped to defeat the Japanese
only to have their land handed back to the French. The Americans did not
want the communists to gain anymore ground in the region, and the
communists had a lot of support because they were the only group that
was really fighting for independence.

It's a shame that things worked out the way they did. I am sure the US
would have helped them to develop. They chose instead to fight tooth and
nail and allow the destruction to go on.

You certainly can blame Kennedy and Johnson for escalating
the U.S. presence in Vietnam, but we were there starting
in 1950. I suppose you can still blame the Democrats (Truman)
for that, but Eisenhower didn't pull us out, either. Perhaps
he didn't know much about conducting a war...

The Vietnamese aren't mulling over the past. They think of the now and future. It's a heck of a happening place. The American Vietnam vets that have gone there seem to come back very happy. It will be a major tourist destination. The commies running the country must be doing something right.
