Food talk is maybe half and half here. Boring food-only posters moved to
Facebook. Good riddance. The diversity here in RFC keeps it alive. Look
at other ngs. Look at the posting numbers.

My other groups are politics. There is no problem with numbers there.

Jill is simply an inherently person...you could give her "happiness" on a solid gold plate, and she'd nag and whine endlessly about the plate

Julie responses keeps this place going on most days, without Julie the
numbers would be dismal.

These are not my neighbors or their guests. They are people looking for
drugs. I see the same cars over and over again. By now, I know which ones
are the druggies and which are the dealers. Obviously I can't stop them but
I'd like them to go elsewhere. They are parked outside the park, after dark,
and the park is closed. They have no reason to be there.

road.

Pretty much because my husband refused to rent. We really didn't have enough
money to buy a house and it wasn't a good time to buy in this market. But he
was being bull headed. We really had no other option. It was either buy this
or be homeless. After the fact of course, the reasons for the lowered price
became glaringly obvious. But... We have gotten most of those problems fixed
now.

If by that you mean it costs money, sure. I've done it many times
myself, the last time cost me about $18000, but that involved shipping
containers plus a car transported by truck, boat and then truck again.
I think just bringing Annie here cost about $1000. Anyway, as I said
before, it's just a matter of planning ahead.

So call the cops! Whining about it on RFC isn't going to change anything.

I actually like FB but prefer to think of it as a pleasant place. For that
reason, I will not go to this group there.

Well, I am glad that I have some use. I could tell an amusing story of what
happened at Winco today but I won't. People will just say that stuff like
that only happens in Bothell, even though Winco isn't in Bothell, or that I
made it up. So...

I am not cooking today. I did make fruit salad. Yummy, yummy! I am not sure
where hubby is. I presume at Seafair or the Mariners or some such thing. And
Angela is on her friend's boat. So for the time being, I have peace. I have
leftover au jus and beef so I can make myself a French Dip if I decide that
I want that. I also have some leftover fresh pasta so I could go that route
too.

Really and truly, that's good. A choice of food YOU want to eat. And
some peace and quiet.

It would cost a hell of a lot more than that to move here. Houses in this
area start at around $500,000.00 and you don't get much for that. Plus when
we refinanced, we agreed not to sell the house for 5 years. Just not an
option even if we wanted to. We can't afford to put this house up to code
and the older houses aren't selling well here with all the new construction.
Plus we have no money to buy anything else.

This is not even one of the worst areas. Marysville, Everett and even
Arlington are getting bad. Crime and drugs are worse there than here. Bottom
line, we own the house and are stuck here.

No I don't. We don't even HAVE slums here in this state. Not that I know of.
The worst low income places I've seen around here look like heaven compared
to some of the places I've seen pictures of in NY and Chicago or have seen
for real in Philadelphia and Washington DC. And this isn't a low income
area. Slums are generally rental places and low income. Here are some
statistics about this city. Does this look like a slum to you? The gray
house in the pic is not my house but it is very near here. I've never seen a
slum like that.

http://www.city-data.com/city/Bothell-Washington.html#b

My neighbors don't do drugs. I know my neighbors. They're fine. These are
people who don't live here that are coming into this area. Calling the
police doesn't do any real good because it doesn't take long to buy drugs or
do drugs or whatever they're doing and the people are always long gone
before the law arrives. I do have pics of the one car. It was black then
gray now white. Same car. I am not seeing it as often.

<rolls eyes> I was talking about *moving costs*. You surely must have
known that. And wouldn't moving and yet staying in the same area
defeat the hypothetical purpose we are discussing?

And $500,000.00 hey? U.S real estate is much, much cheaper than in
Australia and yet people here can move, why do you need to spend that
much on a house? Did you spend or have your current house valued at
$500,000.00? I call bullshit.

Fair enough, I hope in future you plan ahead a little better with
finance and choice of property.

I'm sure there are worse areas, but there is nothing that could compel
me to stay in an area such as you have described on RFC over the
years.

One call may not do it. Call again. Make noise. Go up the ladder.
For crying out loud, if things are really that bad, ask your neighbors
to join in and call the police, too. The more voices the better. Would
you like someone from RFC to call the police for you? My point is only
you and your neighbors can do anything about it if this is going on in
your neighborhood.

Oh yeah, you do have slums in the state, practically every city has one.

Some of the regulars her go to FB to see what's new and to see the resident "LEADER OF THE PACK" Squertz and the way he dominates the discourse. He is polite on FB...mostly I believe because they'd kick his ass off if he wasn't.

I can't understand that ! So easy to remove wallpaper and replace or
paint, not even that expensive. Doesn't even take much time. I've
done it, even when I was older than you!

Apparently, you haven't priced a gallon of paint, lately.

Well, it didn't last. He actually called here asking for dinner as I was
typing that out. He got a premade, stuffed chicken breast from Costco, peas,
homemade honey whole wheat rolls and butter and a big bowl of fruit salad.
I have three more of the chicken breasts. They are stuffed with quinoa and
Mediterranean veggies. But they have feta in them so I can't eat them.
