My supermarket highlights local produce but for that I might take a trip up the valley where it's all grown. There's a nice vineyard tour there also I hear and I have several non-drinking pals, so they can do the driving ![]() ------------------- Some of the toms in my greenhouses have flowers, but no toms yet. -- http;//www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

So far they seem quite happy there. Also I start them inside, you're supposed to sow them outside but I don't. I grow a handful of plants and save the hardiest looking one. nancy |

I just picked another 12 cucumbers off my plant. They're overgrown since we haven't been picking them as we have too many already. Definitely depends on conditions and variety. nancy |

Although I don't think I got that many last summer, but then I did plant them a bit late. How good is fresh picked cucumber in a salad... >For a couple of summers, I grew tomato plants. I'm looking forward to spring this year, I've done a lot of soil preparation in the past 18 months and now the soil is incredible... the garden bed is weed free and mulched, ready to go. I plan to grow a lot of pumpkins and cucumbers this year and less tomatoes. Lots of peas and beans this time too. Currently there is only kale, spinach, rainbow chard, garlic, broad beans and green manure crop in the garden as we are still in winter here. |

My dad had a garden that was much smaller than Sheldon's. He wound up with more cucumbers than anyone in the neighborhood wanted. Jill |

Sadly, he's obsessed with talking on the phone. I don't mind an occasional "how are you doing?" phone call. A couple of times a year. That's about it. Jill |
