Saimin is a Hawaiian dish that you're unlikely to find anywhere else on this planet. I had mine with won tons AKA, Chinese dumplings. This was served with barbecue sticks and a side of Chinese mustard mixed with shoyu. This, along with a plastic cup of ice water has been served countless times on this rock. It's the perfect meal to eat with your favorite girl late at night. Who cares that you're eating this in some hole in the wall with nasty fluorescent lighting, for at that small moment in time, all is right in the world. > >> >> > > >> >> >If this was forty years ago, we might very well be eating saimin right now, around midnight. These days, it's still great to eat saimin with my favorite girl although we'll eat at a time that better suits our constitutions, around 5 PM. OTOH, time is pretty much irrelevant when eating a perfectly prepared bowl of noodles that's exactly the same as it ever was in a hole in the wall with wooden benches and Formica tables and worn linoleum. For all I know, it could be 1969. ![]() > >> >> > > >> >> >https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/sh...hare_link_copy > >> >> > >> >> That looks wonderful. I find most of them to be too shallow. As we all know, man does not live by bread alone - a little more filling every now and then would be nice. I had some pork loin tonight. The pieces were pre-cooked sous vide then breaded in a flour/bread crumb/cornmeal mix then fried. You wouldn't be able to fry a thick piece of pork like this normally but by double cooking, it's easy as pie. https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/sh...hare_link_copy |

Still small compared to most houses but I'm so very fine with it. I could easily downsize to smaller except it's usually cheaper just to stay here. Anyway...I live in under 1100 sq ft but I rarely use half of it so I know I would be content in a place half the size. Remember too...I do like very small places. I grew up in a 5500 sq ft house and I hated it. I also work often for people that live in huge houses and barely use any parts. I don't understand it. It's like living in a museum.....or a shopping center. ehehh |

I live with another human (we need our own spaces), and we entertain - so I wouldn't go any smaller than 1600 + a decent sized patio right now. -- I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food. |

If I was a single male who only mops once a month or so, I would probably prefer something small too. ![]() Cheri |
