Has anyone ever seen a turnip flour product for sale? I know that many
tubers are sold as flour, such as potato and sweet potato flour, the latter of which is used a lot in Asian cooking. I am looking for a low carb substitute for starch flours, and turnips are certainly low carb. Any ideas on where to source this, or are there alternatives to consider? -- W |

How about Tigernut flour? https://organicgemini.com/products/g...iant=892986007 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NDI94BW There are various tree nut flours, like almond. Wouldn't they be low-carb? I would get flour made from blanched almonds, as it would be lower in phytic acid than when made from whole almonds. Don. http://paleofood.com/ (e-mail at page bottom). |

Almond flour is great for low carb baking, but it contains a lot of undesirable types of fat (omega-6) so you have to limit the amounts you eat. -- W |

Animals that eat green grass. Fish that either eat algae or seaweed, or eat other fish that ate something green. Omega-6 comes from seeds, or nuts. (No seeds in the ocean.) You've got flaxseed meal, but that is low quality Omega-3, compared to fish. Just remember "green is good." Don. www.donwiss.com (e-mail link at home page bottom). |
