I'm not interested enough to investigate the situation. Taxes should be
paid according to what is deemed fair and assessed, equally for all
corporations, and that is what Apple is saying it did but the EU wants
more. If it was set up and agreed to the present rate, so be it. If
Apple is evading, they should pay. If the EU is making the rules
retroactively, screw them. Probably comes down to interpretation.

==========

The EU want the money to be paid to the Irish government which they say is
owed. The Irish prefer the jobs.

The question wasn't whether brexiting was a good or a bad decision. I
guess time will tell. The point was that many exit voters seemed shocked
when they got their way. Although I know one exit voter in this group
who's still celebrating

Along with the rest of the almost 17.5 million voters

I saw all these English people on TV who were going: "I just wanted to
make a statement. I didn't really want us to leave the EU! Can we vote
again, please?" lol

How many? There are plenty of those who voted remain because they were
warned we get WWIII if we left and are now finding out that we are doing
well.

The damage is still coming. You're not out yet. UK is very hesitant to
actually cut the umbilical cord But I can understand that it's
psychologically nice te be out. Maybe it will be worth it that way.

I'll be incautious. The American people have had a long, long mistrust of
educated and intelligent people.

I guess I'm not that friendly with my neighbors, if they called and
asked me to go turn their lights on I would take my Smith & Wesson
Life Insurance Policy with me...and wonder why they need ME to turn
their lights on? Very creepy...

I live in a condo and there are four or five people for whom I will
water their plants, look after their cats, take in their mail etc when
they go away. They return the favour.

Dr. Oz let his medical license lapse because he found being a TV star was much more financially lucrative! But he WAS a licensed MD.

maybe he let it lapse because he was under heavy criticism from his
peers over his scam promotions.

Yes. They weren't feuding at that time. Something that happened after
that set this whole thing off.

I called her back. I didn't know *why* she was calling and was merely
guessing she wanted to know why Security was at my house. I didn't know
what I was going to tell her. But no, she didn't ask about that. She
asked did I turn on his lights or did she? What?!

That tells me she must have made a copy of his house key when she had
it. I called him this morning and suggested he change his locks. He
said he'll think about it. What the heck is there to think about? LOL

I'd much rather have an educated and intelligent liar/crook running
the country than a stupid liar/crook running the country. Or a
sociopathic liar/crook, as Donald Trump seems to be.

After reading all of Jill's updates yesterday, I agree...It's a creepy
situation and I would have nothing to do with either of them from now
on. I hope Jill remembers to lock her own doors. heheh

Exactly. I don't hang out with my neighbors, per se, but he told me
he'd lost his keys. He hasn't been here for the last couple of weeks.

As for turning on the lights, he was due back well after midnight.
There aren't any street lights. So he wanted me to turn on the lights
and leave the door unlocked for him. After seeing her walk up to his
door (which is hidden from view by a wall) I didn't want to just leave
the door unlocked. I called Security and they picked up his keys. Then
I called him (he was on the road by then) and told him they'd have his
keys. I did sneak over and turn on the lights for him, and locked the
door again.

I think she has a key. At one time they (including the guys wife) were
friends and she did have the keys. I suspect she had a copy made. She
called me after Security left my house... I let it go to the answering
machine. I didn't know why she was calling I had to think about it
before I called her back. What she wanted to know was did *I* turn on
his lights or did *she*?!

As far as I know she didn't know he was coming back last night. I
didn't find out until late afternoon and I sure didn't tell HER about
it. But if she thought she might have turned on his lights, logic would
dictate she still has a key.

I called him this morning, he said yeah, she used to have the same set
of keys I had. I suggested he call a locksmith. He said he'd "think
about it." Huh.

Yep, and no one else has a key to my house. If, for some reason,
Security needs to get in they'll have to break one of the glass panels
by the front door.

LOL Too bad I don't own a video camera. The guy might want to invest
in some security cameras, though...

I'd like to grill but it's been rainy here for the last few days. I
don't have a covered spot for grilling. It's also been very windy.
Even if it didn't rain, since I use a charcoal grill, when it is windy
it's a bad idea.

Isn't Alex (or whatever his name morphs into) stupid? He makes lame

I prefer to have an honest person running this country.
Not a Donald and not a Hillary.

This is certainly a bad choice this year.
It's even hard to decide who is the worst choice to vote against.

There are easier ways. I have a door panel and you press in a number
and it unlocks it. It's great, when I give the number to someone
it's a breeze to switch it to another number after they have used it.

Because I figure females could not possibly do a worse job! I wasn't

I guess the burglars are just going to have to break into your house

And I'd like a million dollars and a tiara. I don't expect either
of us will get what we want. Ever. (Ok, I could buy a rhinestone
tiara if I wanted to, but I'd look funny mowing the lawn in it.)

Not for me. Donald is my #1 choice to vote against.
