What Presidential power will enable that to happen? I just don't see
either Clinton or Trump having an iota effect on restoring the
manufacturing base in the U.S.

I'm going to step off of this cliff in the dark. Maybe there'll be
a ledge 5 feet down, or maybe not. God knows what.

Actually I feel sorry for them - Trump would not be the solution to
their problems. Imagine if he did start construction of a wall - he'd
be washing his hands in graft I see Ford is moving their small
car manufacturing to Mexico now, perhaps a wall would keep that at
home !

Trump will bring back Rosie the Riveter, the female Iron Worker will
earn $30+ an hour, a far better occupation than infantile adults
flipping burgers... they ought to be ashamed doing a damaged brain
chore that can easily be done robotically; faster, cheaper, better.
People stopped laughing at vending machines more than fifty years
ago... 90% of prepared foods at stupidmarkets are fully prepared and
packaged robotically, more than half of what any restaurant serves was
prepared in an automated factory. The US needs to train young folks
to build machines, not do jobs tantamount to mop n' broom pushers...
even janitorial service companies employ high tech state of the art
industrial size Roombas. I need this: http://tinyurl.com/gnau8kw

Would also be good with meatballs instead of shrimp.

I'm curious Cindy, what you think about Ford's new small car
manufacturing plant in Mexico. With it, Ford can compete with South
Korea, China or Germany. They can build small cars very competitively.

How much more would they cost to pay the United Auto Workers to build
the cars in Detroit? If the current Ford Chairman tried to build them
in Detroit, would the Ford shareholders demand his firing? It's really
tough to be a Capitalist Pig in America today.

Same here. It's worth a try. We'll get change and just have to hope it's

The unions ruined the us auto workers. They demanded way too much money
and benefits so the auto manufacturers just said screw this and took
their labor overseas. That's just good business and not greedy
corporation people. Liberals never seem to understand this. They just
blame the 'greedy rich guys.'

So you're willing to bet that the step into the dark won't be a
disaster? Sorry, not me. In fact, it's not even that dark. Trump
has proved untrustworthy by his actions time and time again.

I don't like Hillary Clinton, but come Election Day I'll hold my nose
and vote for her.

Want to know what my best option is, Cindy? Let Hillary Clinton win but
then soon after have her step down due to legal or health issues. Let
Tim Kaine take over. I think he's the most qualified and would make a
good president. I'm familiar with him. He was our governor at one time.

I'll take the chance with Trump but I've always said, he's not very
presidential. He's shaking up Washington and I like that. He also scares
the foreigners. I like that too.

No matter what Trump turns out to be as president, he will definitely be
a different one.

I still haven't decided though. Looking forward to the one-on-one
debates coming soon.

I don't think anyone has a pic of Sheldon, other than the one on the not
up to date web site which shows him looking like he's 30 when we know
he's in his 70's. heh

Loved those pics, Sheldon. YOu must have been telling the truth.

Are those two feral cats? They don't very feral to me. You should bring
them inside. Regardless, they love playing with the tractor and
hanging out where they know you do.
They are NOT as feral as you seem to think. They want to be pets.

Yep, that's the only one we've seen. Since he won't post a recent pic,
maybe he lying about still being alive. hehehh

He's 73 now. I'm 63 now.
I last posted a pic of me about 7 years ago at my daughter's wedding.

Challenge to all here. Post a recent pic of yourself and I'll do the
same.
In my case, I'll have to take about 20 pics before I find one worth
sending.

Let's just do this with tinypic too. Most of the others are a pain in
the ass
just to see a simple picture.

Please don't Gary, Trump would be a disaster for the USA, not to
mention a laughing stock. The experiment is too dangerous, I have
seen elections where people fooled around with their vote and later
regretted it.

Nope, I don't post recent pics of myself on the net, and the people I care
about see me in person. I don't do challenges and I also don't post pics of
hummingbird feeders and the like just because someone calls me a liar, or a
bitch, or whatever...but I will look at your pic if you post it as long as
you're clothed. LOL

The unions got workers wages that enabled them to become customers. They
also spent a lot of money in the community, and that helped people in
other sectors prosper. I might suggest that is the real version of what
Reagan thought he was talking about with his trickle down stuff. I live
in an area that had a lot of unionized manufacturing. The workers
bought nice houses and/or did renovations, which provided jobs on
building supplies and for contractors. They went out for meals, giving
jobs to people in the service industry. They bought clothes and other
goods, creating other jobs in manufacturing and in retail. The could
afford to send their kids university.

The Republican view of trickle down didn't man out the way Reagan tried
to sell it. They broke down trade barriers to allow more foreign goods
into North American markets, which allowed them to buy manufacturing
plants in places like Mexico where they did not have to pay workers as
much, did not have to treat them fairly, where they did not have to
worry about environmental issues. China can turn out North American
designed products at a fraction of the price that it costs to build them
here, but half the time you can't breathe the air or drink the water.
You would not even think to swim in their rivers.

No argument that he has proved himself unreliable. From what we have
read and heard about him you would be a fool to do business with him.
Yet, he has a lot of support.

We have had several elections like that up here. You hold your nose and
hope that you are picking the lesser idiot.

The cost of labour is not everything. The workers have no rights and
they treat them like crap and expose them to unsafe conditions. Look at
the collapse of sweat shops in Bangladesh as an example of that. They
don't have to worry about environmental issues. Environmental laws are
slack or none existent. If there are problems.... slip someone some
money.

They also offer lower taxes. Combine that with their ability to shuffle
their money from one country to another to avoid taxation. It is
difficult for any single country to go after a company for taxes if they
can present a good case that the money in question was generated or
spent in a different country. Consider the recent findings against
Apple and its tax problems in Ireland. As I understand it, they have had
little more than a corporate presence in Ireland for years and have paid
almost no taxes. Ireland is protesting the findings, but the EU is
demanding that they recover something like $15 Billion in taxes from Apple.

My next door neighbor and the neighbor across the street have some sort
of feud going on. She keeps alluding to some "incident" but won't tell
me what happened. The guy across the street is a seasonal resident who
is apparently going to be living here permanently as he is getting a
divorce. Used to be he'd show up with his wife but that stopped last
year. He started showing up alone. I'd already figured out they were
going to split. I mean, who goes on vacation for a month at a time
without their spouse?

Anyway, he's been gone for a couple of weeks. He called me this morning
and asked if I'd unlock his door and turn on the porch lights; he won't
get here until around midnight. He lost his keys. Oh, and DON'T TELL
the neighbor I unlocked the door!

He asked if I knew what was going on. No, and I really don't want to.
He said this other neighbor used to just walk into his house
unannounced. I have no idea why she'd do that. He said he has spoken
to Security and they know not to allow her to set foot on his property!
She'd be trespassing!

WOW.

I get the feeling she wanted some sort of relationship with him and was
rebuffed. (This is a woman whom I have seen personally working in her
back yard, which faces the 11th green of the golf course, wearing
nothing but her granny panties and sometimes a bra. An exhibitionist?
Dying for some attention?)

At any rate, this guy does NOT want her to know the door is unlocked.
Okay, fine. It's not like she's my best friend. After this, please
leave me out of it. I am perfectly content to sit back with my books
and my cat and my newsgroup. I certainly do not hang out with either of
them so don't drag me into the drama.

They're both in their 70's. I had no idea I moved to Peyton Place. LOL

I just spelled it out (as best I can since I really don't know what's
going on) in my reply to Gary. What actually happened remains a mystery
but there's a real fued going on. At one point the female neighbor told
me she wished the guy was DEAD! That's pretty damn harsh if you ask me.
