I saw many cases of that when I was doing geological fieldwork in SW
Ireland. Having delivered the morning milk to the dairy, the horsedrawn
cart was returning to the farm with the owner sitting on the back of the
cart, facing backwards and reading the racing pages.

I was born in the wrong era and in the wrong country.

I'm not ready myself, but could change my mind under the right
circumstances.
1. I'm no longer able to drive myself.
2. The technology has proven to be safe.

Where I live we don't have public transportation. If I'm 92 and have to
pick up my Viagra prescription I'd call for a driverless Uber so I could
get it.

The reality is that these machines are going to save a shitload of lives. People in the future will be amazed that tens of thousand of lives in the US were snuffed out and many more injured every year until technology was able to save man from himself.

It will also give people the freedom to get away from their desktop computers and spend more time in bars getting bombed. The whole system of catching and processing DUIs will no longer be needed. Obviously, this will directly affect some of the posters here.

Of course I wouldn't allow my family to find me. I would definitely do it
outside when dh was gone for the day fishing, call 911 and report it
beforehand so the body would be carried off long before he returned, and be
done with it. LOL Actually, there was a man in town that did exactly that
not so long ago, but he did it in a park at night instead of his back yard.
They got there in a hurry. We are talking advanced terminal illness here,
not a suicide from depression or anything like that.

Well, I have vials of insulin, and pretty much know the results of insulin
overdose from hearing/reading about other insulin users that have tried it,
and also researching insulin use being a diabetic. I don't use insulin at
the present time, but they are in my fridge. Believe what you want, as will
I.

Why would you need Viagra at that age? Are you planning on getting a bad
sunburn and have to keep the sheets off your body?

A seriously depressed colleague, who was also a Type 1 diabetic,
committed suicide by overdosing insulin.

You're right - a robot with lots of sharp pointy parts sticking out of it seems ill-conceived. Here's a place that I enjoy. Not having human servers is a plus.

Just make sure you don't do a Sunny Von Bulow number on yourself. My wife told me of a patient that stuffed toilet paper up his nose and stuck his head in a basin of water. I believe he's in a coma now, if he isn't dead yet. Perhaps he won't die for quite a while.

If I was going to off myself, I think it would be nice to light up a charcoal hibachi and cook myself some teriyaki beef and chicken and eat that with a musubi. Hopefully, I can get one with a nice ume in it. Of course, this would have to be done in a small space. I'd do it in a car but I fear that might make people skittish about using the vehicle afterwards. OTOH, the idea of offing yourself and having the body delivered somewhere appeals to me.. You would eat, enjoy the ride, and then go to sleep.

I am not diabetic which is why insulin, plus Aleve will do the trick.
I can see it probably would not work for a diabetic, but for me, yes.
That solution was offered to me by a great friend, also a doctor, who
told me that after I had described a method I had worked out for
myself which he said would not be definite. When I next see him I
will ask him what chance I could wind up a veggie and report to you
what he says.

Could be, but I won't be driving them, I don't drive BART and things like
that either.

I never said you couldn't, I said usually ending up in a coma, coming
through in a vegetative state. Not a choice I would make.

Just make sure you don't do a Sunny Von Bulow number on yourself. My wife
told me of a patient that stuffed toilet paper up his nose and stuck his
head in a basin of water. I believe he's in a coma now, if he isn't dead
yet. Perhaps he won't die for quite a while.

If I was going to off myself, I think it would be nice to light up a
charcoal hibachi and cook myself some teriyaki beef and chicken and eat that
with a musubi. Hopefully, I can get one with a nice ume in it. Of course,
this would have to be done in a small space. I'd do it in a car but I fear
that might make people skittish about using the vehicle afterwards. OTOH,
the idea of offing yourself and having the body delivered somewhere appeals
to me. You would eat, enjoy the ride, and then go to sleep.

=======

A couple of big bottles of vodka, some snow, and a tree to sit under could
work too. ;-)

My guess is somebody in the future will make an app for it.

You're right - a robot with lots of sharp pointy parts sticking out of it
seems ill-conceived. Here's a place that I enjoy. Not having human servers
is a plus.

I wouldn't mind that at all if I ever went to a 'serve yourself' place)
