accident a 1/2 mile from home. Holidays are going to be tough on us--my
father and I did most of the cooking for both Thanksgiving and Christmas
dinners. It'll never be the same.

No, Amy, things will never be quite the same. But just going through the
motions of what you and your dad did together to put on a holiday meal
will begin evoking the best of memories. When my dad passed away it was
barely a month before Thanksgiving. My mom and I cooked the dinner
together for just a couple of close friends, and we did some wonderful
reminiscing.

I'm so sorry about your father. That must have been awful. It's so hard
when you don't get a chance to say goodbye. My father lost consciousness
before we all realized how seriously ill he was. We never got to say
goodbye. But, the last thing he said to me was, "I love you", so that gives
me comfort. Hang in there.
