LOL Do it, Cindy!
Even better, show a pic of the cast iron frying pan cooking bacon.

That's always the main deal unless you live in tidal flooding zone. My
elevation is a little less than yours but no worries about flooding.
Wind damage is the main thing. Even in a minor storm, just a branch or
some debris blows into your window and that creates all havoc. Thank
goodness for homeowners (and renter's) insurance.

Main pain in the ass is the often loss of electricity. Makes for a very
YAWN night. Looking at the plan right now, looks like you might very
well lose the electricity.

Fingers crossed for you, Jill. Write when you can.

I'm about 500 miles north of you and we are supposed to get semi-breezy
up to tropical winds and they are calling for rainfall here of 4-8
inches before the storm turns away. WTH??

Also 2 prediction models show the hurricane NOT turning and continuing
up to my area. Not out of the woods yet. I wanted to buy some cold food
today but I'll wait until monday.

Does that mean it's now compulsory to add "Each to their own" to every

It offended my feelings to think she thought I was 'worrying' about
his hairdo - personally I think his hair is a joke, though it goes one
further than the usual combover.

It's raining here, very gently. No wind to speak of yet. The storm is
still hanging out near Jacksonville, FL. It's supposed to move up this
way during the night or early Saturday morning.

I couldn't leave now if I wanted to. The island is on lockdown; no way
on or off until the powers that be come back and unlock the gates.

My only real worry is the furniture on the back patio; it's only 2
chairs and a small table but they're too heavy for me to carry around
the house to put in the garage. I hope they don't blow through a window!
The entire back of the house is basically glass (a stupid design for an
area prone to hurricanes).

Another woman who remained behind has brothers in Florida. One lives
right along the Intracoastal waterway; the storm was a Cat 4 when it
came through. He told her no storm surge, no damage. Her other brother
is in Jacksonville, which is where the Cat 3 storm sits right now. He's
reporting pretty much the same thing. It's supposed to be a Category 2
by the time it gets to my area. Here's hoping for the same good results!

Stay safe, Gary. Hopefully it will be a non-event for you.

Jill

gently turn the table upside down, that's better than doing nothing.
Maybe on it's side, you can roll it inside

Turn the table upside down (legs in the air) and it's less likely to
blow over/take off. You can put chairs on their backs and either tie
them together or to the table. Its what we do with heavy outdoor
furniture when high winds are forecast.

During a gale, one of our neighbours had a garden trampoline smash
through a huge window into the house. it had b taken off and flown from
several gardens away.

Here's a 4:00am update for you early risers.
That storm is right on Jill's butt.
It's less than 30 miles SSW of her and expected to
make landfall within the hour.

I'll be looking forward to hearing from her but
she might be without electricity for quite a bit.
Hopefully not. :-o

When you say the storm, do you mean the eye, or some outer band?

The eye of the storm. The eye wall is right there now and landfall is
expected soon. It's almost like someone put a hurricane homing device in
her house. heheh ;-o
Look at the Weather Channel on tv. It's right there. That's her part of
the coast.

Talking about outer bands, I live 395 miles away (as the crow flies) and
it's starting to rain a bit already. Hurricanes are huge. Even my area
is supposed to get winds up to 50mph and 4-8" rain later today, tonight,
and Sunday until afternoon.
