Anyone living in northeast Florida, and especially South
and North Carolina need to start thinking about the hurricane
that seems to be heading for that area by the end of this week.

Recent models show it moving a little farther to the west,
and hitting the US east coast by Thursday or Friday.

It will likely be cat 2 or maybe less by then but will bring
a LOT of rain with it.

I hope we get some of the tail end rain from that one. I have been using
cistern water since early June and have been checking the well regularly
to see when I can switch back to it. Despite having had rain almost
every day for the last week, including some periods of downpour, my
well is empty. After the driest summer in a long long time, it is going
to take a lot more rain to saturate the ground enough to rejuvenate it.

In a 16 oz glass place a full tray of ice cubes (12), squeeze in 1/4
lime wedge, pour in 4 oz dark Belize rum, fill to the brim with
Coke... after three you won't give a gibnut's ass about a little
stinkin' wind. I'm on my 2nd now, a treat after planting my two trees
(damned rocky ground). I pounded in the fence posts but the wire
fencing will have to wait for tomorrow, ran out of steam. Will finish
the 2nd drink later, time to hit the shower.

Take some of our rain... PLEASE TAKE IT. We've had 3 or 4 inches this
past week.

That sounds good. An old friend of mine used to say, "Hurricane coming.
I need to run to the store to buy the staples - alcohol and
cigarettes." hehehe

That's my favorite chart at the NHC site. By skirting the coastline it
won't lose as much strength.

So far the eye has been missing large bodies of land. It could still be
quite strong in a few days.

And then right up the coast to MD where I am by the weekend. It's
usually tropical storm remnants by the time they get up here. We have a
birthday dinner out to a restaurant for my mom on Sunday and we're
hoping it won't cause us to have to cancel.

That's too funny! I actually woke up from some hazy dream that had me
wondering the recipe for a 'Hurricane'. Then I remembered it wasn't the
1980's.

An evacuation order has been issued by the Governor of SC. By Friday
evening, I and perhaps a few others will be locked down on Dataw.

Once they put those gates in place across the causeway bridge we're
stuck until someone comes back to unlock the gate.

I got into a conversation with an elderly Gullah woman (the accent is
unmistakable and very charming). She said, "Dis ain' gonna be nuthin'
but some wind an' rain"."

Be safe. What does the club do at thsi time? Stay open so people can
hang out, or shut down and batten down the hatches? I assume many of
their employees are home and unable to get to work, right?

The storm is now heading right for Mar-a-Lago. God is sending Matthew there
to level Mar-a-Lago. To punish Trump for being bad.

At the 5PM track (it is updated every three hours) it looks like Matthew is
going to loop around and go for Mar-a-Lago a second time. It looks like God
is really out to get Trump.

This is the fun thing about weather forecasts along the coast and
coastal islands. Tide information and beware the rip tides! IOW, don't
be stupid and go swimming. LOL

I'll let you know how things fare... Most discussion seems to center on
storm surges, rip tides and possible flooding. I suspect the really big
deal will be sustained high wind speeds. Even at a category 2, as slow
as this thing is moving, sustained heavy winds could be a real problem.
There are a *lot* of large trees around here.

One of my neighbors mentioned on the Dataw listserv how grateful she was
the landscaping company she uses sent someone over (without her asking)
and offered to put her patio furniture in the garage for her.

I replied back and said don't be surprised to find a charge for that on
your next bill!

I truly believe she thought they were being helpful. I used to use this
lawn service/landscaping company. They like to sneak things onto the
bill. Spraying for weeds. I didn't ask you to spray for weeds.
Furthermore, I didn't see anyone walking around spraying for weeds and
HMMMM, I was at home when they were here.

One day I came home and found a guy on the roof, cleaning the gutters.
Um, I didn't ask you to do that. Of course I was billed for it.

I surely hope she doesn't think they moved her patio furniture out of
the goodness of their hearts.

I saw a LOT of landscaping trucks around the island today. Drumming up
business. It's a Hurricane Sale, no doubt!

Anyone who graduated from high school knows "hairdo" is one word.

I've always been an advocate for a literacy to vote.

Given the number of misspelled words in your posts (but not this one),
you'd be denying yourself the franchise.

Stop your idiocy and cease displaying how *stupid* you are...
mispellings have not a whit to do with intellect, with keyboards has
all to do with fat fingeredness. I never claimed to be some A-Hole's
typist, but I do know how to cook. Get over yourself and SHOW us some
cooking, if you dare! To date you've not shown us you own a pot, or
have ever owned a pot... why are you here, you ought to move to

No one's posts at rfc contain more mispellings than Dave Smith... I
always let him slide because I never thought English was his first
language. I also don't believe he cooks, no one here has ever seen
anything that proves he owns a pot. Actually I believe Dave Smith is
homeless, he posts from a homeless shelter... that's not his real
name.

That doesn't explain why you are so consistent in your misspellings.
We see the same words misspelled the same way, over and over. I
suggest you enable the spellchecker on your news client.

Happily, I don't need to show you a damned thing. I'm too smart
to post pictures for you to tear apart.

I've got half a mind to drag one of my cast iron frying pans out of
