(This is, in part, a memory test for me.) I THINK you wanted to find
sorghum syrup. I saw some yesterday at Formaggio's Fresh Pond location. Jean B. |

Here's what I said: I finally had the sense to Google the item, plus "Boston." Weirdly, though, it did not give me all the results. That is, I found Christina's Spice & Specialty Foods in Cambridge, which has it, in two sizes - one size being a gallon - and another place, Boston's Homebrew Supply, which I haven't called yet, and Cambridge Naturals (mostly herbs, vitamins, and books). I called CN. They did not carry it, but then told me about Modern Homebrew Emporium in Cambridge, which sells it in roughly quart-size containers. Yay.. (It weighs 3.3. lbs.) The gingerbread recipe, BTW, comes from the 2014 book "Abraham Lincoln in the Kitchen: A Culinary View of Lincoln's Life and Times." It mentions you can use the syrup as a honey substitute, or in baked beans, or on pancakes. Lenona. |
