I'm okay, had mine since they came out, about 1974 if memory serves. I
replaced the bowl at one point but that's it

the rivets are still intact on my chopper blade. Are they flying out
through the wall of the plastic bowl? The website mentions the rivets
somehow disentegrating in operation. I hope I would notice the blade
flying apart before eating any of the processed food. I can't get them
to answer the phone.

update, If you go on the website and answer the questions, a hidden
box will drop down for you to enter your name and address for them to
send you a new blade.

My rivets look fine. I guess some folks grind alot of solids.

Same here, very old and the basic model which they don't make anymore. I
have replaced the bowl once.

According to GMA this morning, it isn't rivets failing, it is pieces of the metal
blades breaking off into the food, and people being cut or getting broken
teeth when eating.

(I have an older Hamilton Beach, so I didn't investigate further...don't think my
blade even has rivets.)

Why are they recalling the entire thing? Why can't they just send us
a new blade?

When you announce that 8 million people should call you can expect some
delay. I'd wait another couple of weeks. Expect website to be down too.

Ours is not recalled so I'm not trying.

Perhaps they are. Oh, look, see what they said: "Any consumer with the
affected blade should immediately stop using the food processor and
contact Cuisinart for a free replacement blade."

It probably took some time to actually put things together. The first
incidents may not have been properly investigated. Could have been
cause by improper use of someone making sand from small rocks or
something. Just sorting real defects from idiot use can be difficult.
In reality, 30 defects over 8 milion pices is not very much. Auto
makers would love to have that record.

I had to replace my original (before the split) DLC-8 after decades of
good use because the housing fell apart. The motor was still strong,
but I couldn't use the spindle. That's when I upgraded to a larger
model, which served me well. I used it until the motor died last
December and now I have my third one. Same size, but with a dough
speed. I make pizza and pie crusts in mine, so it's appreciated.

aw Steve...even if they send you one, it won't fit your cheap Chinese
knock off food processor...you must have paid $700 for your completely
American made Cuisinart with all the accessories...back in the mid
nineties in order for this blade to fit your machine.

Yeah, it included mine.

Here, I notify all you ppl, then forget to call it in, myself. Silly
me! I jes called it in, today. The call was finally taken by a very
nice lady name Veronica (real spelling!) and I was told it would take
at least 2 weeks before I receive my replacement blade.

The recall line --877-339-2534-- seems to leave one in the usual phone
maze limbo, but someone finally answered and 'Veronica' was
exceptionally nice.

Although mine is one of the recall models, the recall only applies to
purchases since 1996. Mine is much older than that.

I filled out the internet form weeks ago and have heard zip from them.
Guess I need to waste my time phoning now. Bah.

When you suddenly gt a couple of million responses it will take a while
to dig through them. I don't see it as a big rush anyway.

Just wondering if they got it. How hard is it to set up an email
auto-response to let people who filled out the internet form know they
have been put on record?
