Default XMas Dinner

Looked, until this morning, like I would have to
break my Christmas tradition of having Prime Rib
for dinner.

But I got a VERY unexpected present this morning
from my landlord, so went shopping and got a nice
5.5 pounder, at $6 a pound.

But the grocery store was JAMMED! Looked like
the day before Thanksgiving, 5-8 people in line
at EVERY checker, and they had at least 7 check
stands open when I was there.

BUT, unusually, everyone was nice and courteous,
even in the parking lot.

It was as pleasant of an experience as I could
have wished for.

Well, that's a nice surprise I can get behind. Cool.

Okay, but not to be all braggy, last week my local store
had prime rib for $4.77 lb. We had that for dinner on
Thursday. Holy crow, it might well have been the best I
have ever had. Including restaurants.

We picked up another for New Year's. We don't do anything
to celebrate aside from having a nice dinner.

That's rough. I haven't seen the store like that in a very
long time. Probably has something to do with being retired
and not shopping at busy times. I would probably leave it
I saw that.

Usually everyone's on edge, by this stage of the season.

But then you'd need to freeze it and that would be a shame.
I'd have asked if they will have the same sale just prior to New
Years. Perhaps they will have rib roasts on sale next week too and
then you can leave that one frozen for another occasion, or they will
have some other festive cut on sale for New Years. I will be looking
for a fresh ham.

At that price it must have been in the meat case since 1985!
Enjoy it.
