Default A Chef's LIfe Holiday Special on PBS

If your local PBS station airs this show did anyone see
the holiday special?

Vivian Howard is the host/chef and she went to her older
sisters home to make a red velvet cake. What caught my
attention was the stand mixer she was using. It was a
large contraption with the bowl sitting on the power base.
It did not have a tilt head but it did have a wire whisk
and the bowl was barrel shaped and rotated on its base.
Close to the 'arm' of the whisk is a scraper than is in
a stationary position that as the bowl turns it constantly
scrapes the turning bowl.

The mixer does not look brand spanking new nor does it
appear to be an 'antique.' Has anyone seen a mixer like
this? I've searched images online and nothing like this
appears. It was quite an intruging appliance and I hope
my description is clear as it can be without being too
confusing.

send Vivian an e-mail and get her sister to read the label on the
mixer. Kitchen Aid, Sunbeam, Hobart, Hamilton Beach and Kenwood.

From your description, the power head spinning the whisk is in the
bottom, not the top. Very unusual for sure.

Yes, it is unusual. I went back and looked at that portion of the
video twice to see how it actually worked.

That's it, that's it!!! How on earth did you find it? I searched
for stand mixers and got lots of hits of many different brands but
that one wasn't in the results I found. It was so unusual looking
I went back and watched that portion of the show to see it again.

Thanks!!

It sure was! When I watched that portion of the show a second
time is when I spotted that scraper and thought what a neat
idea.
