That's most unfortunate. I have to install a couple of speakers in my doors.. These VW speakers are not very good and are pop riveted on. Whether they'll fit is iffy. The good part is that the system is self-limiting. It's not made for high volume levels and would be totally unsuitable for Sex Pistol music. It does alright with techno though.

Yeah, but I did it to myself! So now I have to troubleshoot and fix the problem. Pretty sure it's the subwoofer speaker, as I unplugged the sub from the V9 amp and everything else seems to be running OK. I just miss my sub!

Sounds like your analysis is correct. You should be more careful with your money and get quality stuff. I bought myself a couple of speakers for 36 bucks. It ain't that great but it'll probably be as good as OEM. I'm not going to abuse it and blow it up. I can get away with CCJ.

My Sonata had a wonderful sound system. I would play recordings from 50 years ago at very high levels and hear things that I never heard before. There was absolutely no distortion at all. Amazing. I only got to do this when driving home from my monthly meetings at about 9 in the evening. The drive was only 4 minutes long but it was an exhilarating, memorable, experience!

measurements but that only tells you so much.

I'll bet anything if you heard hifi equipment that was transparent and
accurate in music reproduction, you'd hate it. I know I do, and it

It depends. You could set up a music system that was normalized for a particular room but in the end, it's easier, faster, and simpler, to just do equalizer settings by ear. My guess is that guys that spend a lot of money for music systems would find that unacceptable. Those guys believe in electronic measurements rather than organic measurements.

If you're talking about speech comprehension which relies on a person's ability to process language and sound, you pretty much have to play it by ear.

Well, I can't find my thread where I told folks here that I abused my malconfigured cool as PUNK mostly Alpine car audio system and burnt out the subwoofer and driver's door 6x9! Mostly because I had not or had no one set the amp gains correctly!!

But that's in the past now! Got a new Alpine SPR-69 6x9 speaker and a JL Audio slim line sub, and had Custom Sounds install them set the amps' gains correctly and WOW!! NOW Baby II rocks PUNK as shit!! Beautifully too! And LOUDER and clearer than any car audio system I've ever had before! :-)

I stuck to Chrysler's speaker placement. Not optimal but easy peasy! I figured with a little decent power to some pretty high performing equipment as I found Alpine speakers to be it should sound pretty good and it DOES!
