Default Happy New Years Eve

I have to go onto the kitchen in a while and start cooking. We have a
bunch of stuff that my wife bought that I will be cooking. We have some
nice bid scallops that will be pan seared. There are a couple nice
looking beef tenderloin steaks, some mushrooms, nice fresh rolls.
Megatron is the the saladmeister, so as soon as she is done with that I
will go in and get started on the cooking. We have a couple bottles of
wine ready to go. There is a nice local Reisling to go with the scallops
and a bottle of Rioja to have with the beef.

What's a bid scallop? An old and stuffy one?

It all sounds yummy and I will be staying in. The thought of
being in one of the crowds around here for all the outdoor
goings on planned holds no appeal for me. Supper tonight was
the TGI Friday's potato skins. Pretty tasty.

Happy New Years Dave!

We are simple here. A flatbread I made up and Hoppin' John stew. More
wasn't needed.

Supper tonight was fresh cheese and spinach raviolis from BJs, dressed
with slivered garlic in olive oil and butter with some Italian herb
blend and black pepper... excellent... much better than frozen.
There was no white Christmas here but I have a white New Year, was
10ºF this morning with about 6" on the ground:

Sounds really good, Dave.

We had pot roast cooked with carrots and onions. I added some sherry
to the roast while it was cooking, and it made amazing gravy. Acorn
squash and broccoli on the side. No dessert.

DH's 65th birthday was on Thursday, and his sister gave him a couple
of bottles of very good red wine. We had the 2013 Masi Campofiorin
with our dinner. I usually don't spend that much on wine, so this was
a very nice treat.

Happy new year to you in Southwestern Ontario from me in Southeastern
Ontario!

Big. A simple typo that autocorrect wouldn't catch.

I had leftover pork roast, sliced and gently heated in some brown butter
with prosciutto and provolone on top. Kind of like saltimbocca, made
with what I had on hand. Crusty white bread with Greek olive oil.

DH had leftover veal, in red sauce with parmesan and provolone, topped
with some garlicky bread crumbs. Like Veal Parmesan, only without
the frying.

Salads all round.

We had our lobsters, nothing with them, plastic tablecloth to protect
the table. After a couple of hours we then had dessert, chocolate
mousse - all in slow time accompanied by a lovely wine. Before we
knew it, it was 2017

Of course. You never know though. Bay scallops, bid scallops, bad
scallops, why not?

Do scallops go to auctions?

Obviously Dave knows best what he intended, but "nice big scallops"
rang true for me. I was a copy editor and proofreader for several
years; I seem to have a knack for finding typos and knowing what the
writer intended.

I am sure he did, but Bruce's primary function here is sniping.

No, but I thought biddy was the diminutive of bid. Dog-->doggie,
Dave-->Davey, bid-->biddy. But I guess not.
