I have to agree and hate the idea of the 'Shepherds Pie' one

Sounds unpleasant with that wind. We've had 20F (-6C) here once. It
almost killed our young mango tree. Normally it doesn't get lower than
-1C or -2C.

-9C today with a 'feels like' -13C factor due to the wind. We had
about six inches of snow during the night but the wind at least
stopped it piling up on tree branches and bringing them down. It's
going to be a messy day but hopefully they will get it cleared before
rush hour tomorrow.

We had -15 yesterday morning when I went out with the dog. There was
no wind at all. It was quite pleasant, though I was bundled up. It
would be a much different story if it had been windy.

We also have 20-30 mph wind with gusts up to 50. Lots of rain and
lots more expected.

I don't miss conditions like that. Always emigrate towards the sun,
not away from it.

Perhaps you have to live in a climate like that to understand how much
nice it seems at -13 after having had -17. People tend to adapt quickly
to the climate. Around here people start wearing long sleeves on
September when the temperature drops below +20. If it gets about +5 in
March they will be outside in short sleeves.

I have lived in a climate like that and I know that the difference
between -17 and -13 matters less than whether you have wind with that.

You'd be surprised. At -17 C the snot freezes right in your
nose when you inhale. No so at -13 C.

So if you have a runny nose, -17 is better than -13.

Yep, same here in the San Joaquin Valley, the rain is welcome in many ways,
not so good in others, but the wind has been awful. I have two large trees
in my yard, and as soon as the weather is better, will have them pruned
quite a bit. If you're out and about, take care.

It's more or less moussaka, which is delicious. Lamb and aubergine go
really well together.

Our high was 23F I think? (Sunday). I know it's silly sounding to those
north of here, but they have better equipment to clear it.

BTW, TV just flashed banners on code red for driving? I've not seen
that before. Our snow isn't bad compared to others. It is true our
side streets are at about 10 inches and the few idiots to parked on the
streets here have a fairly high incidence of dings.
