Round steak used to be one of the cheapest beef cuts. When I was in my
20's cheap was the only thing my budget allowed so I cooked a lot of
Swiss Steak! You're right about the price of cubed steaks being
ridiculous. I wanted to make country fried steak (aka chicken fried
steak) last year and thought okay, I'll use cubed steaks. I just about
fainted when I saw the price. Heck, I could go to Barbara Jean's
[restaurant] and get that meal for the price of a couple of cubed steaks
and wouldn't have to wash any pans.

wowsa. The jalapeno corn bread is good, too. My SO, like Ophelia
and her husband, can't stand anything even hinting at peppery.

me... I think I have a jar of sliced jalapenos in the fridge. Might be
time to bake some corn bread.

Yes, I did. It was a problem a couple of years ago. I finally had to
get rude about it. I don't like to do that but how many times can you
say, "I don't like talking on the phone" (or simply not answer) before
the person gets a clue? He once called me at midnight (WTF!) to
complain that notbob wasn't answering his phone. What the heck did he

I can't dictate how he uses his phone. He likes speaker phone mode. I
think it sounds horrible but I can't demand he pick up the handset. I
don't like talking to someone on a cell phone, either. Every little bit
of extraneous noise comes through.

I was just checking to make sure he was okay. It is not like Sheldon to
be quiet for a week. I sometimes go for days at a time not reading or
posting when I'm kicked back with some good books. When someone his age
goes missing for a week and then a moron posts that he's dead... gotta
