Default Corned Beef & Cabbage Nearly Ready (pic)

Here's the quartered cabbage still simmering on the edges of the corned
beef brisket an hour ago:

After another 30 minutes or so.... cabbage was just the way I like it.
Fork tender.

I took the beef out and let it rest on a cutting board before slicing it
thinly. The cabbage remained in the hot liquid until I sliced the beef
put it in the serving bowl. That's a large ceramic cabbage leaf serving
bowl my aunt Jean made about 50 years ago. I can't think of a better
use for it.

BTW, there was some mention in another thread about corned beef curling
up. I've *never* encountered that. This one is a flat cut but I've
also cooked point cuts. Never had any curling. There must be some cuts
out there I haven't run into.

I've been sneaking bits of the corned beef while slicing it. Delicious!
Mmmm, bits of cabbage, too. Love it.

I skipped the potatoes this year. No particular reason.

It does look tasty! I love the stuff but have never cooked
corned beef.
