I thought that I had a couple of weird in-laws but one of the guys at
lunch yesterday was asked about his sister in law. The guy's wife had died about three years ago. She died in her sleep of a heart problem that he didn't even know about. She had been such a pleasant soul, and I had not realized until later who her sister was, a nasty piece of work. She was a columnist with a local newspaper and I had always found her very abrasive. Somewhere along the line she became disabled and wheelchair bound and became an advocate for the handicapped. The late wife's mother died last year and our friend was hosting the wake. He rode with the bitch in law to the service. He had forgotten that she has a thing about scents and he had put on a little bit of Old Spice. It is not a medical or respiratory problem. As part of her over all activism, she is opposed to the used of scents. There were a couple blocks from the funeral home when she asked if he was wearing aftershave. She yelled at her husband to stop the car and told our friend to get out of the car. After the service he had ask another family member for a ride back to the wake... that he was hosting. |
