Boiling is a lot quicker than this 30 minute baked version.

That's a wee bit over cooked. 30 minutes is way too long. That greenish cast on the yolks pretty much suck. It's the latest way to do everything wrong.

I agree. I tried it this morning with a six count muffin tin just to try it
because I was going to make egg salad anyway, did it exactly as instructed
and some of the eggs came out with tiny brown spots from the heat. Other
than that, they were cooked fine, no greenish cast, but didn't look as good
because of the spots. I won't ever be cooking them that way again.

The video says bake for "20" minutes...what is the right time? I guess I'll
have to try this out. Also, I wonder if that 325 F. is correct.
More experimentation called for.

I believe it's 30 minutes total, twenty in the oven, and ten in the ice
bath. I will say they did peel easily. I did do it in a six muffin tin ( a
cheap one from Dollar Store) so maybe the pan was why they seemed to scorch
and leave tiny brown spots on some of the eggs. At any rate, as
itsjoannotjoann said, easier just to boil IMO.

I just boil water and add eggs directly from the refrigerator and simmer for 6 minutes. This gives a runny yolk. 8 minutes would give a nice hard boiled egg. The ice bath is important to stop the cooking and prevent that nasty green tinge on the yolk.

If the oven is lit for something else what difference does it make?
I'm willing to test it out to see if the eggs are easier to peel...
peeling is the one thing about boiled eggs I don't like, peeling
boiled eggs is always a crap shoot, occasionally the shells slip off
as easily as a bra but not usually. And I don't see much difference
time wise, I typically boil a dozen or more eggs in my six qt pot so I
need to boil some 4-5 qts of water plus the eggs. I've never boiled
less than the whole dozen eggs, usually an 18 egg carton. We like
hard cooked eggs, great for egg salad or quartered into tossed garden
salad,. and we both enjoy sliced egg sandwiches. Neither of us likes
deviled eggs. I like pickled eggs, she doesn't. Neither of us cares
much for soft boiled. Mostly we like 12 egg fritattas, first day
eaten hot, next day cold.

You plunge cold eggs into boiling water and the shells don't crack and
all the insides spew out making a big mess... what a LIAR... you've
never cooked anything!

Yup, it's possible alright. One has to be careful to check the shells before gently laying it in the water. That's a basic cooking skill. Please try to keep up, SHELL-DON!

My guess is that your eyes might not be up to the task. My son is able to read the microprinting on check. I can hardly believe that's possible but I ain't no liar.

Fresh eggs don't peel easily. If you want easy peeling use eggs
that are at least 2 weeks old.

Wow, you are wasteful with water just to boil a dozen or so eggs.

18 eggs do not take 4-5 quarts of water.

No IF! You didn't read what I wrote, instead you are imagining what
you want to believe I said... see above.

I already knew that but that doesn't always work... perhaps 50/50.

My water comes from my own well, costs me so little to pump I can say
it costs me nothing... in fact it's good for the well to use it. And
the water I use goes right back into the ground via my septic system.
You likely don't know that water cannot be wasted, not on planet
Earth... every molecule of water that was on Earth at creation is
still on board, just not evenly distributed. The only time water can
be wasted is if it's used frivolously where one is located and there
is no more nearby... I happen to live where there is plenty of water,
at times there is too much water here, especially now with all the
snow melt.

>> I've never boiled less than the whole dozen eggs, usually an 18 egg carton.

Chances are you've never boiled more then 3-4 eggs at a time.
Eggs should be boiled in a single layer, not jammed together, and
covered by minimally one inch of water, two inches is better. I use a
particular 6 qt pot because it is wide enough to accomodate 18 eggs in
one layer without jamming. It requires minimally 4 qts of water to
cover the eggs by 1 inch of water. If eggs are packed too closely and
in more than one layer they will click together and some will crack.

>The screaming back at me may now commence.

No screaming, I just hope you've learned something.

It is of vital importance to this country that these vermin/illegal aliens/terrorists who only cook 3 to 4 eggs at a time be exterminated once and for all! In this way shall America will be made great again!
