For some screwy reason, some of my posts word wrap and others go way off
to the right.
Damned if I know which button to push to wrap all the time.

Make note to oneself = do NOT open his fatuous posts again, for
someone projecting himself as such a tekkie man if you don't know
about line wrapping then I;ve got two bridges to sell you!

Thunderbird and other readers expects to see formatted lines in quotes. Google Groups does not do this in quoted text. I don't mind if GG does not casually add forced formatting where there is none. Some folks see it as an insurmountable problem. Boy, I'm sure glad I'm not one of those guys.

I see them wrapped with T-bird but when I rely I see a single line.
When I look at my reply, it shows wrapped again.

=======

If I didn't care enough about the person to write a personal note, I
wouldn't be sending the card.

You might be getting that problem when other posters try to quote me or edit
my posts. I know how to edit the posts so I don't miss-attribute posters but
other people obviously don't know how that'd done. As it goes, it's better
to not write within quoted lines when using Google Groups. Everything comes
out nice and pretty looking that way. See what I mean?

Of course, if you're reading this the old school way, you're in for a nasty
experience.

==

I don't get the complaint at all. Your lines are long but they don't go
over the end of my page. Maybe it is the fault of the pages of the
receivers.

Your post above mine, is exactly the way I get it. I have changed nothing.

I think most generations experienced great periods of human excess depending
on what was available to be used excessively at the time.

You better hope not. I predicted that the iPad was going to be a game
changer and that Chromebooks were going to force MS to make Windows a free
OS. You better hope that you live longer than the advent of electric cars.
You probably think that you'll never live long enough to see self-driving
cars but I think you're dead wrong.

At this point you likely have more cookware than you can use. A few
years ago I packed up a lot of cooking stuff I didn't use and stored
it in the basement, I still have things in the kitchen I never use,
like some 2 dozen coffee mugs hanging from cup hooks in a cupboard,
for many years we've only used the same two we bought in Pa. Dutch
country some 26 years ago... I know we'll never need more than two for
company anymore and not often.

===

Yes I do have more than I can use, but especially, some of my cast iron are
very pretty and although I don't use them they look lovely on a shelf in the
kitchen)

When I am gone I know exactly what will happen to all this! My
granddaughter has told me that she will be here with a large removal van for
all the kitchen stuff LOLOL

It is quite a comforting notion)

I think it might happen sooner than that though. She is recently married
and they are looking for a house to buy. I bet my kitchen will be much
reduced when that happens

Actually when I retired I had a huge clear out of books and kitchen stuff.
It was hard to do but now I rarely miss anything. Heh there is still too
much)

For some screwy reason, some of my posts word wrap and others go way off
to the right.
Damned if I know which button to push to wrap all the time.

No, that wasn't pretty. It's difficult to tell at a glance that your
paragraph is being quoted. I added some newlines and greater-thans
to make it more clear that your entire paragraph was quoted.

I'm reading and posting using Google Groups in Firefox.

Perhaps self-driving cars (which, frankly, I probably will welcome when
I have to give up my driver's license), but I believe standard food will
still be around when I die. I hope to die with a bellyful of prime
beef.

Various people have made predictions about food, yet we still have farmers
and livestock.

The other issue is, it is much more difficult to read a very long line
of text. The eye gets lost on the long journey to the right. Page
layout is something that publishers have done a lot of work on.

I have my Firefox window maximized and your single line wandered and
wandered until I got bored looking for the end.

I've tried numerous times. He just doesn't get it. He thinks it's the

let me get this - dsi can out of the blue make nasty remarks about two
of us and you defend him

Graham - who also understands line wrapping, although he doesm't lay
claim to being way ahead of all the rest of us technically, and you
then suggest either Cindy or I are jumping up and down in rage ?

are you sure you didn't bash your head when you fell ? there is no
logic to your statement and personally i find it offensive.

let me get this - dsi can out of the blue make nasty remarks about two
of us and you defend him

Graham - who also understands line wrapping, although he doesm't lay
claim to being way ahead of all the rest of us technically, and you
then suggest either Cindy or I are jumping up and down in rage ?

are you sure you didn't bash your head when you fell ? there is no
logic to your statement and personally i find it offensive.

Sloppy formats are the result of pure laziness. I don't read any of
dsi1's posts that roll off the page, he can easily correct that but
he's either too lazy, too ignorant, or both. I also don't care to
read untrimmed posts, especially with all the messy attributions.

That could be your own laziness, because you should be able to configure
your reader to limit line length. I don't have a problem with line wrap
when I read his posts, but when I reply to them I have to go to Edit and
select Rewrap.

LOL, to say nothing of *your* huge walls of text with no spacing!

Your posts don't look that great either - it's not hiding the body of the post you're replying to as it's supposed to. It's probably not a good idea to monkey around with the formatting in GG.

I agree with you on the food part. I'm predicting that'll take 50 or so years for fully synthetic Star Trek foods to become the norm. My guess is we'll be seeing 3D printed foods very shortly.

He took exception to the statement that the money he was paying out to a family in Cambodia so that their daughter could get a proper education was, in reality, for purposes sinister and abhorrent. And just like that... he was gone.

Quid pro quo. I'll clean up the formatting of my posts if you'll clean up your content and also refrain from posting drunk. I believe this is a compromise we can both live with.

I consider that to be a misfeature. I find it really annoying to
have to expand the post to see the context of the reply. It's
nearly as bad as top posting.

GG can eat my shorts. I use it only because I don't care enough
about Usenet to bother with a real newsreader.

That's great news. My guess is that most Americans are scared shitless when driving in the UK for the first time. Getting the proper driving etiquette of locals does take some time. I really appreciated that they moved to the far side of the road when they saw me coming.

Don't forget to use that real newsreader with reals OSes like Win98 and real desktop clients like Wordstar and Lotus 123.

Everyone seems to be a bit crabby today. At least I have something to crab
about with a food of snow to slosh in.
Can't even go to town as the snowplow operator hasn't cleared the roads yet.
A winter holiday in Maui would be nice but that'll have to wait until
next year.
