Ok, I an a spice hound. I don't have an answer for everthing but I got
me a little gift (smile).

I don't want flowers (too little fun for the cost as we catch up bills)
or jewelry (umm, they get stuff I don't wear but appreciate the effort)

I got me some toys and asked the family to find me a card that would
make me laugh! My Birthday is close to Mother's day so we sort of
double it up.

4oz Chipotle, ground black and red peppers. 6 on a heat scale of 10
but you use them sparingly. I have way too much but like it!

Vadouvan, a curry blend of the yellow type, bodes well for fried rice.

Cantanzaro Herbs, what can I say? AWESOME blend. A million uses but if
you want to omit butter from your bread spread, use this with olive oil.

Parmesan pesto sprinkle, smells good. I'm guessing will take some
excess pasta and toss with this in olive oil.

Savory Spice. We swapped the Virginia Beach Cafe group order to them
after Penzys abused the use of our emails in an unprofessional manner
to send us diatribes. The bombed us with emails that if we didnt vote
in the president election the way that they did, we were racists. It
offended all of us (regardless of how we voted and we spanned all
candidates including write ins). We voted with our feet and are very
happy with us 3-8 collective folks with the new company. Arrives
faster too.

I have been buying most of mine in bulk from the Bulk Barn for a number
of years because they cost a fraction of what it would cost to buy them
by the small overpriced bottle. Heck, I can go to Lee Valley and buy a
stainless canister or some similar sized container and fill it with
something and it will still be a fraction of what I would be charged for
one of those small spice bottles. If they sit around and lose their
potency I can pitch the old and replace them and still be way ahead.

The other day I was checking out some house branded gallon zip lock bags. I noticed that one box was considerably heavier than the others. I choose two of the boxes by weight. The box was labeled for 15 bags. One box contained 28 bags and the other 26. If you buy this product, I recommend that you try to get the heavier boxes.

(probably the 3rd one I've ever done on facebook). We got the anti-***
stuff (one of our friends had a *** son who committed suicide in 1989
and was not amused at all at the abuse of her email for ordering

been buying spices from BJs and Walmart... I find no difference in
quality and costs a lot less too.

I understand. I don't know if they even do mail order. They have just
about everything I need and they are handy. There are at least 5 within
a half hour drive from my place. I don't even need to go out of my way
and can usually stop by at one of them when I am out shopping around.
The rest of the stuff I use I can get at the Oriental Supermarket.

You have a computer -- why were you even having Penzey's mail you a
paper copy of their catalog? That's a waste of paper, postage and
money because I guarantee that you didn't buy $$ worth every time you
got a catalog. Go to them online, avoid hassle and order when you
want then you don't get any extraneous stuff.
I've canceled all my catalogs of any kind. I know where the business
is located on the 'Net and I don't have to deal with recycling paper
that is already poisoned with colored inks.

I have never bought all my spices from Penzey's. That's foolish
unless you live so far out in the boonies that you never get to town.
Otherwise it makes sense to buy in bulk from your local busy bulk
seller. However, there are some things that I can't get locally and I
buy from Penzey's.
If you had been regularly using the Internet Penzey's instead of
insisting on a paper catalog you never would have seen anything you
don't like.

I (and most who were offended) delinked from them right away. Did you
think we were still getting their *crap*? No, we left back in November
after the election *crap* calling us racists for the 3rd time arrived
'if we voted other than they approved of'.

We are happy (all 8 of us) with Savory Spices. The prices are pretty
much the same (some less, some a little more), qualify the same and
shippage faster by far.

Ok Nancy, we are all different. I felt it abusive to use our personal
emails t call us Racists if we didnt vote for Clinton for President.

Somehow, this got mixed with an earlier note on LBGT issues they sent.
I did not address that but i am also upset that my personal email
address they had for use with orders online, was abused to spam people
on a political issue. I may not disagree with his stance there, but it
was not responsible use of our private email addresses.

If you think it's ok to spam people, please contact AMAZON.COM and ask
them to spam all customers with 'whatever they feel is right for a
person that works there to say' and see what comes back.

Speaking of busy, I'm too busy to drive all over town looking
for spices. I order nearly everything from Penzey's, although
in a pinch there's a food service outfit quite close to= me.

Even though I order online, Penzey's still sends me catalogs

Sorry, I should have qualified to add the circumstance of driving all
over town -- something I hate to do. I organize all my trips out just
like I am a UPS driver, drive a loop and then home. I asked Penzey's
to not send me a catalog because I shopped online. That really is for
my convenience. I hate having all that advertising mail with order
sheets with my name and address inside.

It probably was a dumb move. It did nothing to change people's way of looking at things. Mostly, it entrenched their positions. OTOH, this election was all about emotion, and not anything having to do with logic or rational choice. As far as elections goes, this one was very, very, special.

I am located a couple thousand miles from a Penzey's. What's your
point? I have no idea what you did to get email 'spam from Penzey's,
but I email order from them all the time and did not get political
spam (or any other kind of spam from them).
As to my assumption regarding you getting a catalog, it came from this
response you made to Wayne

This comment implies that your experience is different from his

and was not amused at all at the abuse of her email for ordering

There are several Winco stores (supermarkets) in Phoenix and surround.
My Winco stores carry an extensive bulk food selection, part of which
is herbs and spices and spice mixes. You won't find Five Spice there
(at least not my store) but you will find a wide array of common
herbs, spices, seasonings etc.
