I found it annoying because, being 300 feet down the lane, the light came in though our bedroom window. The people that bought the house kept it up only because the light keeps coyotes away. At least, that was what they thought. The people that moved in two years ago had that light removed. There are still some outdoor lights to illuminate the area, but they are almost never on. |

I found it annoying because, being 300 feet down the lane, >the light came in though our bedroom window. 300' is a very long distance for even the most powerful street lights... I have a couple of high lumen lights about 25' high on each side of my barn but they only light a 150' diameter with the light tapering off after 100'... my house is 300' feet away and none of that barn light shines near my house. Even the lights used at baseball fields for pro games won't illuminate 300', that's why they use dozens all around the perimeter for night games. Also the high lumen street lamps come with adjustable side and top visors to keep the light from bothering neighbors, but my neighbors are too far away so I didn't attach the visors. I have two of these 7,000 Lumen street lights: http://www.superiorlighting.com/70_W...101caal068.htm The only way they could be shining into your windows is if they are mounted aimed directly at your window rather than towards the ground.... I would ask your neighbor to adjust that lamp. >The people that bought the house kept it up only because the light keeps coyotes away. >At least that was what they thought. Bright lights do keep nocturnal critters away, including coyotes... there are coyotes here and occasionally they will cut through my property at night but they definitely steer clear of those well lit areas. |

It could be called "Clean up after dsi1, because he's too immature to do it himself". Or would that be too long? |
