Maybe I should. I've searched the Forte Agent Help for "immature
poster", but found nothing. Maybe I should try "Hawaii" or "this
rock".

I know there is in Agent, Bruce is using build 8 so it would certainly
still be there, I just forget how to do it - since dsi can't or won't
organise himself I figure I don't need to see what he says

It's a useful group to have, over the years have used it quite a bit.
I started with agent waaaay back when it was free agent and moved
along from there.

LOL at your suggested setting name.

Bruce, your Agent newsreader probably will handle that problem and the
solution will be in your settings.

I have an ancient FreeAgent on my old computer but sadly my monitor for
that one is broken - the switch went bad. So I can't look at that one
now. I plan to buy just a cheap used or small on this week so I can use
that computer again occasionally.

Anyway, on that old computer I used the Netscape newsreader and I still
prefer that one. It *does* have setting where you can set your line
length for sending and also for not getting that long scrolling problem
that you have. I believe that setting is just something like 'adjust
message to screen size' or something like that.

You could also switch to Thunderbird which also handles outgoing and
incoming line length. I know that most people hate to switch readers but
once you get used to a new one, problem solved.

Bottom line, I'll bet your Agent will fix that if you look carefully
through settings. I'll bet Stevers could tell you if he was willing to. :-D

Too many options really, that why I use the group and wait for Ralph
to answer - quicker and less energy required of an old brain.

I've gone through the settings again and I don't see it. It's not such
a big deal though. It only happens with dsi1 and the odd occasional
poster.

I use Thunderbird for email and I have seen people make mistakes when
they use it for both email and Usenet. One that I remember: "Hi John,
here are your user name and password for the forum". Sent to a
newsgroup by mistake

Steve Wertz is a good friend of mine, so I'm sure he'll chime in.

I recently moved from 3.5 (I believe) to 8. It cost a bit of money,
but it's exactly the same program, with only a few features added that
I'll never use. But -not having tried Thunderbird- this is the reader
I prefer.

Figures, I drove up to my mother's place yesterday, my brother
has left on the Burglar Beacon again. Not that there's much
left to steal, but why alert every passing ne'er-do-well.

I doubt Agent can repair someone else's badly formated computer.

You will note Ophelia, I never have 'dumped' on you but you suddenly
decided you would be exceptionally nasty to and about me. I am sure
you remember.

I use Agent. DS1's posting come through right across the screen, but
not off the screen.

They automatically wrap on reply.

The only setting I could find in relation to this is under View, one
of the options is word wrap.

Also check under Tools, Options, Display.

Yes, that solves the problem when viewing the post. Replying is still
a bit of work.
