Yes, about a month late. too much rain and low temps... it rained all
day today so I couldn't mow, hopefully I can mow tomorrow. And I
still need to cut up six large fallen trees in the back field... and
the deer flies are biting like crazy.

I had a small (3mx3m) very sandy spot in the back corner of my back
yard, full sun. I had never done anything with it because it is sort
of out of sight and has no irrigation. I have got a long hose and can
hand water with minimum fuss. So, at the beginning of spring I started
dumping all my vege scraps, lawn clippings, egg shells, fallen leaves
etc there, helped along by some applications of animal poo and lots of
worm wee. Every week I forked it over.

The idea was to leave it all through winter and plant it up next
spring, but I now have a raging crop of chiles, tomatoes, biutternut
pumpkin, capsicum, a few green onions, mizuna, comfrey, sweet potatoes
and even a lavender plant, all self seeded. I am not tending them just
letting them go, they will stop the weeds coming up and any crop I may
get is a bonus. It is the middle of winter and I have green cherry and
perrino tomatoes. Going to have to give away lots of butternuts too.
The chiles are ripening and the mizuna just keeps on giving. I think I
spied a celery poking its head up too.

I am having to hand water, no rain, I was getting blossom end rot from
lack of water.

Yes, Ebby is a gorgeous cat and he knows he lives here. I estimaate
he weighs near 30 pounds and he's super quick, he can climb a tree 40
feet up as fast as a squirrel. These feral cats have no fat, they're
all muscle;. He and his pal Joiner hunt as a team, they are always
together. Joiner is a girl and she's just as tough.
I wish I could get them to be house cats but I doubt that will ever
happen, meanwhile I provide them with as much comfort as possible.

I was busy today, mowing ten acres of over grown wet grass, got that
done but now I still have six fallen trees to cut up. There are still
areas too wet to mow.
Dinner tonight will be left over pork chops, spinach, and baked
potatoes..
Early this morning I ground three pounds of top round and made six
burgers/ground steaks for freezing.
