frankly,
i have never heard anyone make it with onions... however, most of us in india use sugar but then we get a thin layer of water on the top, if you put dates, the consistency is uniform and the dates are sweet, so the sweetness is taken care of. Try it and you would love it for sure. frankly,
i have never heard anyone make it with onions... however, most of us in india use sugar but then we get a thin layer of water on the top, if you put dates, the consistency is uniform and the dates are sweet, so the sweetness is taken care of. Try it and you would love it for sure. I'm sure the date thing will work out nicely, though. In my case, all the other ingredients are just supporting characters for the two stars, the mint and the chiles. I recall the first time I ran into this condiment. I didn't know what it was. When I first tried it, I was blown away. Sure, I could smell the overwhelming fragrance of the mint. but the spiciness was a shocker (it was seriously hot!). It just didn't fit in my white bread mint jelly upbringing. Fortunately, I got over it quickly and now love the stuff. nb |
