Nicely done! I'll have to try that instead of eating them plain.

no, no, no, no, no. No kraut on my grilled brat.
They have begun this abomination at the brat festival. Where did such
a thing come from? Must've come up from Chicago!

could be - that's where I learned about cooking brats

these are Kroger brats so no abomination has occurred

if I were in Leipzig it would be horrible

It is me 'Wurst'.
Means, it doesn't matter to me.
Makes no difference.
Looks very good, (with a litlle picallily or?).

here's more or less the Chicago-style version I learned 20 years ago -
although I didn't add mustard to the beer onion kraut bath

<http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/05/grilled-bratwurst-with-beer-mustard-and-sauerkraut-recipe.html>

The brat in my picture was only soaked in water to prevent splitting of
the casings. The sauerkraut was prepared thus:

1. fry sliced onion in bacon grease until soft
2. add sauerkraut
3. simmer until the moisture level is correct

In addition to the kraut I also tried sliced banana peppers - it was
pretty good!

up north of Chicago they put butter and onions in a big pot and that's
where you keep the brats warm when cooking for a crowd. Then they
started adding beer and I don't really care for that.
I have friends that do the sauerkraut thing. (They don't even put
mustard, onions and pickles on the table) When I asked for mustard, I
got some sweet stuff!!!!! Not cool.

You lack imagination. A local sandwich shop does a little country ham
on a crusty roll spread with butter and garnished with Bibb lettuce.
It's divine.
