I never was a big pop drinker. My parents rarely had it in the house, but we got enough of it at my friend's house because his father was an exec with Canada Dry and they had weekly deliveries of the stuff, and that was when they had about a dozen flavours. There were times in my youth when I would have it regularly, especially in the summer when I was working at hot jobs. Somewhere along the line I realized it wasn't really thirst quenching. After I had heart surgery my wife started getting all kinds of diet pops and was pushing me to drink them. Our asked her why, and she said I should not have the regular sugared stuff. He pointed out that I rarely drink pop. |

It was about 30 years ago when Coke introduced a new formula, one which their taste tests led then to believe consumers liked best. The thought they had needed something to regain the market share that had been lost to Pepsi and to non cola drinks. Once the new produce was rolled out consumers rebelled. They wanted their old Coke back, so Coke then came in New Coke and the Coke Classic. Coke Classic sales soared. The change looked like a disaster at first, but in the end it helped Coke sales. All those people who had preferred Pepsi over Coke suddenly started buying Coke. |

Same here, when we adopted her she had a chip but the original owners declined to retreive her from the pound the second time around, so we had to mail a fee and change the name by showing proof of adoption. I don't understand how owners could just let their dog go like that, she was just a couple of days from being put down when Animal Friends Connection rescued her. On the other hand, I'm glad they didn't care enough about her to get her back because I have a feeling their care was terrible. Cheri |

Well then your stores must be totally different. Most of the shelf stocking here is done at night. Most of the stores here are closed at night. I only know of two that are open 24 hours but I got an email telling me that another will be. Can't remember now which one that is. Either PCC. Central Market or Whole Foods. You will see vendors stocking things and once in a while if there is a rapidly selling sale item, you will see someone stocking that. That doesn't mean that the person will know where something is in the store or even if they carried it. I did get an answer at Winco about Velveeta. Not an entirely correct answer. That guy did lead me to an end cap of Velveeta. But he did not know where the shelf space was dedicated to it. I did find it on a subsquent trip. It was with the boxed mac and cheese. Many of the stores around here seem to be in a constant state of remodel or semi remodel. So it's no wonder that the employees had no clue. Two of the items I have asked about in the past do not have a permanent home, at least in the stores where I asked. One was Lay's Stax. I was told by one employee that the vendor puts some cans of them near the checkouts once in a while. They seem to be rather random and they never have many at one time. For some reason, this is an item that a lot of stores do not carry, even though they carry that brand. Another was a certain kind of bagel chip. They are almost always on a rolling rack and it's usually somewhere in the deli department but at the new Safeway, they were found with produce. Another thing I have asked about is Fritos Hot Bean Dip. I even got a response online from the vendor that was wrong. I was told that there would be a big sale at all stores (true) and that tons of dip would appear on the shelves (also true). But no hot dip ever showed up. Just the plain bean which I don't like so much. At least now I have an online source for that. > >> I've never waited for help finding something, and if the store doesn't >> carry the item, they'll tell you right away, and perhaps even suggest >> an alternate store that may have what you need. >> >> Doris >> > She must shop at some really **** poor stores. One store that I might consider **** poor is Grocery Outlet, otherwise known as Gross Out. But each store is different and some are better than others. When I asked a question online, the owner of the Everett store was very nice to me. And the store itself was okay save for the rotting produce out front. I just didn't like some of the seedy customers or the way they had to treat people who used a debit or credit card when they checked out. Had to show other I.D. as they get too many stolen cards. The other stores I shop at are pretty typical at least for this area. Albertsons, Safeway, Winco, Walmart, PCC, Whole Foods, Walmart and Central Market. Of the bunch I would have to say that PCC is best in terms of customer service but perhaps it is because they are a smaller store and have less goods to sell. Whole Foods probably would come next but even then, I remember asking once for something that Angela wanted. I think it was Siraccha sauce. The guy had no clue, directed us to clearly the wrong aisle and then said they must not have it. They did have it. We found it ourselves. Another time when she wanted a pair of Tom's shoes and they didn't have her size on the rack, the cashier sent someone to the back room to get them. The worst customer service would have to be at Walmart where nobody ever seems to know anything and their stock mysteriously changes every time I go in there. But bottom line... I did work in retail for many years. That in and of itself was enough to let me know that most of the store employees are not going to know where things are or even who else that they might ask. I was one of the few who did, perhaps only because I worked in so many different departments over the years, including the office, and I knew who the management was. Many of our employees just came and went. They might be there 2-3 weeks and then we'd never see them again. The same seems to be true in a lot of the other stores where I've shopped. |

For a myriad of reasons. Wrong brand, don't like that, can't eat that, so and so won't eat it. I'm extremely grateful I don't have such problems when I'm shopping for groceries. ![]() Jill |

If I am looking for a specific item, then that's what I want. Not something that is sort of like that. If you asked for peas but the store was out, would you want them to suggest that you buy corn instead? |
